Who is going to lose the game of chicken first? The US and Israel keep pushing countries and rebel groups in the Middle East to fight, but no one has taken the bait and fully declared war on either, to the dismay of both Israel and the US. They are both trying their hardest to enlarge the scale of fighting in Gaza to other countries.
The aggressors:
The US has struck Yemen multiple times now, even today, and many locations over the Houthis refusal to end their blockade of the Red Sea.
Israel is bombing Lebanon regularly and often with white phosphorous bombs.
The US is sending 1,500 troops to the Middle East.
In response:
The Houthis have expanded their attacks to not just Israeli-bound ships but also US and UK ships, and turned one tanker around headed toward Israel.
Iran has bombed targets in Syria and Iraq that are headquarters to Mossad agents.
Hezbollah is continuing their drone strikes and bombings of Israel.
There is nothing diplomatic or deescalating about these actions that the US or Israel is taking. They are both antagonizing the situation on purpose to draw someone into war. What is interesting is that the countries, rebel groups, and militias the US and Israel are attempting to enrage are not falling for the trap.
However, you can only push someone so far before it becomes an egregious situation. The tensions in the Middle East are at the brink. With the US sending a significant amount of troops, that leads to increasing tensions and the US is banking on either the Houthis responding or Iran.
Israel wants to draw Lebanon into a war.
The US wants to draw Iran into a war.
Israel wants war to expand to Lebanon because then they can continue their genocide against innocent Palestinians and also attempt to annex land from Lebanon which they have fought over for decades as well as resources.
The US wants war to expand to Iran because Biden is up for reelection, the need for resources, and the need for greater influence in the Middle East. Plus, the US economy is heavily driven by war manufacturing. To Biden, these are all necessities presently over the concerns and demands of the majority of voters who want a ceasefire in Gaza and to not enter war with any country. Using such a flimsy excuse as delays in shipping to attack the Houthis displays the desperation the US has to instigate a war.
Who will get fed up with the US and Israel first?
The one thing that would be a welcome surprise is if no one falls for this obvious ploy. It must be incredibly frustrating for Yemen and Lebanon to not enter war, but they know this perverse game that Israel and the US are actively playing.
What is incredibly sad is that so many nations in the Middle East are silent as the US and Israel bullies countries that are their neighbors. They are too busy accepting arms deals and base deals to speak up for their neighboring countries that are under threat of war.
Meanwhile, neighboring countries to Palestine are deciding who will build Gaza and who will control Gaza without the input of Palestinians who should decide who will help them rebuild. Palestinians are the only people who should control their own land, not any other nation. How do leaders have the audacity to decide who will build and control Gaza while they are being massacred?
From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
