The Rumbles of a Greater War are Being Heard

Will it be with Iran? Will it be with Lebanon? Will it be with Yemen? Will it be with Syria? Will it be with Iraq? Will it be with all of them?

Israel is extending their goal beyond Gaza, and has their eye fixed on Lebanon. In the UN, Israel has made a statement asking for Hezbollah to be pushed back from the border of Israel. Israel has also evacuated settlers that live near the border of Lebanon. If world leaders allow Israel to push Hezbollah deeper into Lebanon, they will also be green lighting increased Israeli aggressions against Lebanon. Despite playing victim, Israel has increased bombardment of Lebanon and killed over 100 Lebanese since October 7. Human Rights Watch has also called out the war crimes that Israel is committing against the Lebanese over the targeted killing of reporters on the Lebanese border. Hezbollah could launch a full-sale attack, but they are showing restraint, which makes it easy to see the aggressor in this situation. Israel is trying to lure Hezbollah into a greater war and Hezbollah is aware of this.

There are two reasons that Israel wants the war to spread beyond Gaza into Lebanon- resources and continuation of war. Netanyahu needs the war to continue and to spread because he faces losing power and jail sentences when a ceasefire in Gaza is established. He needs the war to continue and expand. The main reason Israel wants Lebanon is the resources and land that Israel has sought for decades. Lebanon has gas fields and Israel wants access to these fields, even though a shaky agreement has been reached over the disputed fields. Israel is now asking the White House for military aid to fight Lebanon.

If US officials provide aid and arm Israel to fight Hezbollah, it is assured that Iran will also enter the war.

Despite what the White House is stating, their actions are also leading many to think that a greater war is imminent. There has been escalating clashes with the Houthis in the Red Sea. The US military is looking into taking greater actions against the Houthis. If the US does attack the Houthis with greater force than they currently have, it will likely open the door for greater attacks against the US in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. It could destabilize the entire Middle East.

Militants in Iraq and Syria have increased their attacks on US military bases in their countries. The tensions in both countries are high.

If Israel scales up their attacks on Lebanon, then it is very likely that Iran will enter the battle. Iran supports and arms Hezbollah. Israel wants this war to erupt into the entire Middle East.

Senator Rand is proposing a bill to pull US troops out of Syria, which would be the best outcome for everyone. Unfortunately, the Senate and House will likely vote against this bill which would deescalate the violence in the Middle East. Both the White House and congress seem to be set on war. The actions taken from the president and the legislature are military responses and not diplomatic or humanitarian centered.

Continue the calls for peace. Continue the calls for humanity. Never abandon the fight for human rights.

From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.

Demand an embargo for Israel and the US.

Demand a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

The US is the ONLY nation to vote against a UN resolution calling for ceasefire in Gaza
