The White House and the duplicitous, two-faced nature that it has utilized since Biden entered office as president is fully on display this week, but the world is pointing out the disingenuous actions of the US government are nothing more than a performative response to maintain the moral authority status of the world. The repeated votes against a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, providing weapons to Israel, along with two centuries of colonialism, have fully identified the US for the toxic aggressor and oppressor that it is and this mantle will forever be ascribed to America. Hosting pointless meetings that wistfully call for humanitarian aid without aid ever being delivered to Gaza is working against the US and the nations that attend. It perfectly demonstrates the level of performative deceptions that leaders will take so that they can continue their actual agenda- oppression.
In one day, the US voted against a UN Resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, then met with representatives from the Arab League to assure them that the US wants aid to enter Gaza, but, meanwhile, the US government shipped a large amount of munitions to Israel that the US supplied without Congressional consent.
Biden sold over 14,000 munitions for tanks at the cost of $106 million to Israel on Friday, which was announced AFTER the meeting with the Arab League.
This meeting between Secretary of State Blinken and the Arab League was nothing more than optics for the world to see that “they care.” None of these countries care. Humanitarian aid would be entering Gaza right now unabated if these countries actually worked together and took action. They just need to seem to care enough so the protests within the Arab League countries does not foment into something greater. The US desperately needed this meeting with the Arab League because the actions the US took on Friday were all in support of a continued genocide of innocent Palestinians, and this meeting gives the perception they care for human rights, but the US only has taken actions to destroy human rights. It is all about perception. Always look at the actions in response to words that are delivered. The actions of the US do not match the words they state, US elected officials should be held accountable.
Blinken said that “an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale.” In his confirmation hearing before Congress, Mr. Blinken said that he would ensure that his actions would restore a rules-based governance, but that this bypassing of Congress for the sale of weapons to Israel is absolutely contradictory of that assurance Blinken gave to Congress.
Currently, any sale to Israel or provision of munitions to Israel breaks the Leahy Law. There is no accountability into Israel’s use of the arms and munitions given and sold to them from the US, but human rights groups in Gaza have proof that these arms and munitions are being used to break international law which also directly breaks the Leahy Law.
If the Arab League wants aid into Gaza, they are going to have to take bold actions to get the aid in, but they are not. This meeting was only for a photo opportunity and sound bytes that make everyone look like they are taking action, but nothing is accomplished or achieved. If the Arab League truly wants aid into Gaza, they are going to have to embargo and sanction both Israel and the US, but they will not take such a drastic step because this affects their profits. Citizens of these countries are demanding that Palestinians be protected, but the leaders who could make a difference only deliver words and nothing actionable. This meeting with Blinken was just another delivery of those performative words.
How can anyone trust the US government?
What is even worse, is when US elected officials are questioned, they aggressively deny and speak down to those with legitimate questions regarding accountability and the intent of their actions. THAT is what a fascist autocracy does. The US government acts like they are above reproach, but no government is above reproach.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT.
The lies, the inconsistencies, the attempts to hide actions, the ignoring of war crimes, and the actions taken to silence opposition all define a fascist autocracy. That is how the US government is currently ruling. There is no room for democracy with any of these people in a place of power because democracy allows the people to have a voice and for elected officials to be held accountable, both of which the US government refutes.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT.
DEMAND AN EMBARGO FOR ISRAEL AND THE US.
From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
Protest. BE UNGOVERNABLE. Demand embargoes for Israel/US. Vote 3rd party. Organize. Volunteer. Boycott. Donate. Share the stories from Gaza. Share the news from Gaza. Share the history of Gaza. Please extend the same energy to other areas and people facing genocide and atrocities- Sudan, the Congo, the Rohingyans, West Papua, Armenians, and the Uyghurs.
