No, you cannot write this narrative that increasing humanitarian aid into Gaza as a victory.
This can only be called a victory if Israel actually follows through and upholds the conditions of the resolution.
Will Israel respect this resolution? They have not upheld any resolution that addresses their actions and holds Israel accountable, ever. Truly, Israel should be labeled a terrorist state because any other country taking the same actions as Israel would be held to the fire for the same actions.
Of course the one resolution to pass is sponsored by the UAE who is actively arming the RSF in Sudan, and this is the one draft that the US permitted to pass because this resolution does not call for a ceasefire. It took a week to pass because the US was attacking the language and demanded changes to it, which they received. A previous draft called for a complete ceasefire, but the US fought against that.

Israel has complete control of everything that enters Gaza, which is why nothing is coming into Gaza because of their “inspections.” Oddly enough we never hear of any seizures of illegal arms at these crossings attempting to enter Gaza. These “inspections” hold up humanitarian aid and are starving and adding to the extreme suffering of Palestinians who have not had water, medicine, food, stable shelters, or warm clothing. Women have no access to sanitary products and are taking drastic measures adding to their suffering. The US fought for Israel to maintain their control of aid entering Gaza, and won. The US knows this resolution will not change anything for Palestinians which is why they did not veto it but abstained.
Remember that a Security Council Resolution did pass which called for humanitarian pauses, and Israel has never respected that resolution. They will ignore this resolution, too. This is the reason the US fought so hard to make sure the language did not include a permanent ceasefire. If Israel did not respect a permanent ceasefire then there would be repercussions internationally. Maybe that would finally push countries into enforcing an embargo on Israel and the US? As of today, only two countries are holding Israel accountable economoically- Belgium has sanctioned Israel, and, now, Malaysia has embargoed Israel.
World leaders must embargo and sanction both Israel and the US. This is the only way the war in Gaza will end. We need all of them to take these steps to fight for Palestinians and show the world they stand for humanity and human rights.

Looking over the comments the US Ambassador made to the Security Council, these statements are completely astounding and devoid of authenticity because the actions of the US are impeding a ceasefire. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield said that “this was a glimmer of hope amongst a sea of unimaginable suffering,” but what she fails to acknowledge is the role the US has in this suffering. The US is the reason for the suffering and they are offering these performative statements to feign concern when they are sharpening the knives of Israel and supplying them with more while threatening anyone who intervenes.
As for Israel, their ambassador presented false narratives and denounced any actions from the UN because they have never condemned the Hamas attack on Israel. Not one word is truthful from Israel. Israel falsely claimed that aid is pouring into Gaza. Every aid organization that is still in Gaza has shown the small shipments that they receive, if any. The Israeli Ambassador said that, while more aid might try to pass the border, it is up to the UN to be able to process these shipments, AND that Israel will also be inspecting aid trucks. They are laying the groundwork to withhold aid into Gaza. Israel lies and states that there are sufficient amount of aid entering, when there is not enough to supply the needs of Palestinians.
This resolution demands that Hamas release the remaining Israeli hostages. Hamas should release the hostages. If they do, and Israel continues to destroy Gaza, which they will because Israel will then fall back on their argument that they must destroy Hamas, it will fully display Israel’s goal of destroying and annexing Gaza. More than likely Hamas will not release any hostages because they are trying to free Palestinian prisoners under Israel imprisonment with exchanges for Israeli hostages, plus it also highlights Israel’s true character as they obliterate Gaza including the hostages. Israel has killed three hostages when they sought help and rescue from the IDF. The greater fear is that when the hostages are released, how destructive will Israel resort to in Gaza and the West Bank? With their logic, they would likely completely decimate Gaza once the hostages are all released.
World leaders must embargo Israel and the US. Please contact your country’s officials and demand a complete embargo on Israel and the US.
If all of these countries vote for a ceasefire and for a Palestinian state, then act on that. A vote is meaningless unless there is action attached to it and implemented.
If they truly believe what they vote for, then show the world you mean what you say and take action.
