There is a constant battle for leaders to admit the intent of their actions and what they are doing, but instead they choose to sing and dance for the public and media for the show because they are never the “bad guys.”
Today, many leaders, officials, and countries are performing this disgusting show to pretend that they have some humanity and morals, but the actions they take do not equate with upholding humanity or any morality.
Israel has been claiming that Palestinians cannot enter northern Gaza, forcing the majority of Palestinians into a small area near the border.
Blinken has stated that “Palestinian civilians must be able to return home as soon as conditions allow.” Israel has obliterated the land and both Israel and the US know that the conditions are appalling. How is it possible for anyone to return and live in a place when there is no running water, food, medicine, or access to healthcare? This is intentional, it is not a livable situation or conditions and both Israel and the US know this and want Gaza to be as uninhabitable as possible. There in lies the issue with the Biden administration. They often disguise the truth in very muddled and ambiguous terms, but every once in a while they do offer the truth, and here it is.
Israel, for now, has agreed to let in UN representatives evaluate northern Gaza knowing that Israel has made it uninhabitable for Palestinians. Israel and the US want the UN to do their dirty work.
Palestinians should have access to their land. It is their land. They should be allowed access to basic needs of water, food, medicine, and healthcare but they are denied those basic needs by Israel. Israel should never be in control of these needs. This is why Palestinians are dying and suffering because of the amount of control their oppressor has and Israel is using this power to kill as many Palestinians as possible and make Gaza even more unlivable.
Everyone has forgotten that Blinken did say that Israel will be in charge of the security of Gaza, which is why Israel is already making plans for taking control and annexation of land. If they are in charge of policing the entire state of Gaza, then they are essentially in charge. It would be Israeli laws that would be enforced on Gaza. It would be the IDF that enforces these laws. How does that not equate to Israel then being in charge of Gaza?
The only people who should be in charge of Gaza are Palestinians.
The US has the power to set deadlines with repercussions for Israel and hold Israel accountable. If the Biden administration does not approve of Israel’s withholding aid to Palestinians, they can simply give Israel a deadline and if it is not met, then do not arm Israel and cut off all funding. But the US does not take these steps like they would with other countries and have done so with other countries. Why? It is in these inactions and inconsistencies that the truth behind the US comes to light. This is the song and dance that the US performs to seem like they care, but they do not. The US approves of what Israel is doing. They do not want to get dragged into the ICJ case and they do not want to come off as the “bad guy”, but playing that they do not have power and offering “concern” is the US’ song and dance routine.
Jordan and Egypt are meeting with the Palestinian Authority but not Israel to discuss a ceasefire and reiterate that they do not want Palestinians forced out of Gaza. If they wanted a ceasefire then they needed to include the aggressor, Israel. The borders to other countries should be open to Palestinians if they want to leave. What this really is about is that Jordan and Egypt do not want millions of Palestinian refugees in their countries and neither do the other Middle Eastern countries. While many Palestinians do not want to leave their land, some do want to leave for safety or medical reasons and should be allowed to leave and return when it is safe.
What becomes of the innocent Palestinians still trapped in Gaza without water, food, medicine, electricity, and healthcare? The awful truth is that Israel is trying to kill as many innocent Palestinians as possible. Leaders are rumbling over this war continuing further but it has gone on for four months now. Why grumble now and not months ago? Why not take action then and save thousands of lives? They are doing nothing actionable to hold Israel accountable and that is in part to the US and the recent tours US officials have taken to offer arms deals and lucrative base deals to these countries to buy their silence and inaction. Everyone is doing their best to look concerned but no one is actually doing anything, and that is the point.
Both Israel and the US are itching to expand the war into Yemen and Lebanon so that they can retain power during reelections and gain land and resources. The US and UK are warning that they will escalate their attacks after they shot down drones from Houthi fighters.
With the looming case of genocide in the ICJ, even that is not deterring either country because both have refuted the case as meritless. There is a Security Council resolution that Israel is presently ignoring and actively blocking, but no one is bringing up Israel’s blatant disregard for this legally binding resolution to permit humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The only way to stop them is for embargoes and sanctions, and only Malaysia has done so.
If the ICJ does find Israel committing genocide, then what will leaders do in response? Will that be the impetus for embargoes and sanctions for Israel and the countries that support Israel? Will they all cut diplomatic ties with Israel and the US? What is stopping them from doing these things now when there is more than enough proof?
