UN: Skyrocketing violence against children in Sudan demands urgent protection measures: UN report
Innocent Sudanese children are being killed, maimed, and sexually assaulted. The figures are rising and there is no end to the war. We need world leaders to take steps now to protect the Sudanese from years of this genocide. It is worsening and worsening, and the toll these atrocities will have on children will never be erased because there are no concrete steps on ending the violence and for these children to exist in a peaceful and stable country which is what is needed for these children to being to heal from this disturbing and continual violence they have had to survive through. Yet no country or leader is taking action.
BBC: Zamzam camp near el-Fasher pushed into famine- experts
The famine is not just isolated to this camp, as this headline makes it seem. All of Sudan is facing famine due to warring parties disrupting aid distributions, threatening aid workers, and stealing much needed supplies. This could be addressed through targeted sanctions and an arms embargo against the RSF and SAF, it appears that world leaders would rather not cut off arms and funding to a terrorist group and a military regime. The only hope for food entering Sudan are the few crops that are being grown at the moment but they will not be harvested until the fall.
25.6 million Sudanese are experiencing acute food insecurity.
CNN: Women and girls in Sudan subjected to widespread sexual violence by warring parties, report finds
Women and girls are being gang raped for days, forced into marriage, or sold off as a sex slave. Some victims are ostracized by their families and turned out. Not just kicked out of their family, these victims have also been impregnated and some have contracted STD’s. There is no place safe for women and girls in Sudan. Not even when they face such horrific sexual violence, there are few hospitals to seek medical treatment. Some women have been forced to have sex for food in order to survive. Where are the feminist groups calling out these atrocities and war crimes? The SAF has sexually assaulted healthcare workers and threatened them if they reported these assaults, and still there is no recourse for these horrors.
Reuters: Sudan's army chief Burhan defiant after drone strikes army base
The SAF’s leader, Burhan, was hit with a drone strike and was able to make it out alive. He is now refusing to meet with the RSF after the attempt on his life. The US had set up peace talks in a few weeks between the RSF and SAF, but now these hopes are gone. These talks were already suspect as Saudi Arabia is hosting and the UAE is a fellow participant in the peace talks despite being the funder and arms dealer of the RSF. What will it take to end the genocide in Sudan? We need our leaders to take a stand and support the human rights of the Sudanese who are suffering and dying.
Foreign Affairs: The UAE’s Secret War in Sudan
Is this a secret? The UAE has been called out by Sudan and other countries for their direct involvement with the RSF terror group that is attacking, killing, raping, and starving across Sudan. It is still important that news outlets report on the UAE’s backing of the RSF and how they provide arms to the RSF while the RSF provides gold to the UAE. If you want to make a difference, do not support any companies or products out of the UAE. Every point made in this article is correct and how to address the UAE’s funding and arming of the RSF is on point, no notes. The US should not be providing any arms deals to the UAE and should heavily sanction them, yet they are buddying up with the UAE because the US (doing this for Israel) needs the UAE’s support for their involvement in the war in Gaza. This is a really great article to share that summarizes what needs to be done and how the UAE is involved in Sudan.
