The violence in Sudan worsens as world leaders remain inactive and the world silent

While new reports emerge from the genocide occurring in Sudan from events the previous year, there are ongoing atrocities being committed at the present. These reports are incredibly important because this information might motivate leaders to finally take action, but there is the current deadly reality that Sudanese face. Doctors Without Borders has been forced to close down the one functioning hospital in Wad Madani due to pressure from the warring parties. Now there are few to no options for healthcare in this region of Sudan. Where will people who have medical conditions go? Where will pregnant people seek a safe place to deliver their baby? Where will people go if they are injured or sexually assaulted?

The HRW report describes the horrifying violence in June 2023 at the hands of the Rapid Support Forces who are targeting the Massalit in order to wipe the Massalit population out completely. There were 2,000 bodies of innocent Sudanese killed during that attack last June in El Geneina. The Sudanese Armed Forces did nothing to stop the attacks and allowed the RSF to massacre the Massalit.

Where are the outcries and outrage for the suffering of the Sudanese? This is genocide. This is all due to foreign powers like the UAE and Russia providing money and arms to the RSF so that they can gain control of Sudan and these two countries can profit off of the resources like gold and also land for things like military bases.

The war in Sudan can end today if arms embargoes and heavy sanctions placed on those that are committing the atrocities in both the RSF and SAF, and those that are arming them. There are sanctions in place for some companies and RSF leaders, but it has not been enough to deter their deadly violence.

And with the WFP warning that they are running out of money to support Sudan and Chad, everything is soon to get much worse than it is now, which is unimaginable. 25 million Sudanese are in desperate need of food.

El Fasher is currently under threat of the RSF. People that have fled their homes for this major city are in fear that what happened in El Geneina. If the RSF does invade El Fasher that is most likely what will occur and world leaders are not placing an arms embargo on both the RSF and SAF to end these war crimes and genocide. It’s sickening. There is nowhere safe for the Sudanese to go.

World leaders have the power to stop the killing of innocent people, but they do nothing.

This world is not speaking up for the Sudanese and their pain. To try to survive a genocide and the world to say nothing in your defense or support, only adds more to their heavy burden of pain. Palestine is a travesty, and Sudan is also a travesty. If people can fight for the human rights of one people, it’s necessary to fight for the human rights of all people that are fighting for their lives in an ongoing genocide.

To the Sudanese, from the bottom of my heart and soul, I am sorry we are failing you.

We must do more for Sudan.
