There’s protesters supporting human rights and against genocide on college campuses and cities throughout the world. That momentum should include other countries that are also at war and genocide is being committed. Sudan needs this support. Sudan needs everyone’s voice to fight for peace.
~15,000 innocent Sudanese have been killed.
10.7 million Sudanese have been displaced.
7 million Sudanese face starvation.
These are important articles to keep updated on the current situation in Sudan.
USA Today: Every two hours, a child dies in Sudan. Our global silence is deafening.
This is a must read about Sudan. I agree with every bit of this article. The most important part that I would like to highlight, is that the US and world leaders must hold those who are committing atrocities accountable with sanctions and an arms embargo. There is lots of talk about talk, but there is no follow through if atrocities continue or worsen. Both the RSF and SAF are committing war crimes and both should face consequences when they continue to break international laws and human rights.
Global News: UN concerned Sudan is on the brink of collapse as Darfur crisis escalates
This video is very informative of the current state of the war in Sudan. El Fasher is under threat of attack from the RSF. This is a major city in Sudan and the last major city that the RSF does not control. Since it is a capital, there is a large population and one of the last areas that some humanitarian groups still operate in. If El Fasher is attacked there will be an extremely high death toll and crimes against humanity. Many Sudanese fled here when other cities and towns were under siege.
The New Arab: UAE cancels UK ministerial meetings after allegations of sending weapons to RSF in Sudan war
The UAE is livid with the UK because the UK allowed the Sudanese diplomat to present information to the UN that the UAE is providing arms to the RSF so they canceled all meetings between governments. What the UK should have done during the meeting at the UN is not just sit back but actually place a full arms embargo on the RSF and sanction any UAE entity that provides weapons to the RSF. If the UAE is going to react to these actions, the UK should have not held back, nor any UN members. There’s more than enough proof that the UAE is shipping arms to the RSF, and the war would end if this supply chain were cut. So why don’t they? Is it because the US is trying to maintain support from the UAE with their military actions in the Middle East so the US is pressuring everyone to allow this war to wage on?
Sudan Tribune: UN Security Council to discuss Sudan’s complaint of UAE backing RSF
This information is important to understand that a lot of major powers are all urging the UAE to no longer arm the RSF, but none of them are holding the UAE or the RSF to account over the genocide of innocent Sudanese and war crimes. The war in Sudan would be over if these major powers took action and sanctioned RSF leaders and the arms dealers to the RSF which would be the UAE. Hopefully, this meeting over UAE arms shipments to the RSF will lead to economic repercussions that can bring peace.
UN: Sudan: Civilians trapped in El Fasher as UN warns of imminent attack and Sudan: Security Council members call for immediate halt to military escalation in El Fasher
Here is the response from the UN. They are still in the process of hearing and collecting proof from Sudanese officials over the UAE’s role in arming the RSF. Thousands of people are being starved and have no access to health care, so beyond the wait for further proof, world leader should and must take action to protect millions of lives.
