There’s not one, but two bills that the GOP has introduced that would harshly retaliate against any protesters. One bill places any protester, not just college students, on a no-fly list. The second bill goes even further and sends any person convicted of illegal actions on a campus to Gaza for six months. This means any conviction for a crime committed on a campus will get those convicted sent to Gaza. If a person has unpaid parking tickets and arrested due to the unpaid tickets, it’s to Gaza they go. If a person shows support for Hamas, which Zionists often twist to include all Palestinians, then that person is on the No Fly list and cannot leave the country.
The super-extreme conservatives are just trying to out do their fellow conservatives, the Democrats, on removing rights and attacking the 1st Amendment right to free speech.
Again, these bills show that the protests are upsetting those in power. The democrats are pushing for the antisemitism bill to become law and now the super-extreme conservatives have to up their ante.
If the far-right religious extremists thought they might have push back from their fellow conservatives, otherwise known as the Democrats, they will not. Look at the border proposals and what the Democrats have agreed to all of the GOP’s inhumane conditions for asylum seekers and immigrants, the Democrats agreed with their fellow conservatives. They will agree with them once again. It will be like that little genocide parade that the federal government threw a few months ago and both sides came together to party for war crimes and atrocities.
When these bills pass, these bills and the passage of them will perfectly highlight exactly how similar the GOP and the Democrats really are because they are quite close when it comes down to it.
If all three bills meant to attack American’s freedom of speech, we will lose the right to protest Israel’s genocide. These bills will twist the protests into what they are not, which is attacking the Jewish faith or Jewish people, but attacking Zionism and the illegal usurpation of Palestinian’s land and the death of Palestinians for their land. It’s like these bills are building blocks. One allows for protests against Israel’s genocide to be considered antisemitic. The other two piggy back off of that new definition of antisemitism to then add further inhumane punishments for those who protest the war in Gaza. Even that first bill allows the Board of Education and universities to penalize students who protest against Israel. These other two add onto the punishments.
We are spiraling further and further into a fully fascist state. The government can surveil anyone without a warrant. These bills can deport citizens from the US and place them in a country in war and famine simply for dissenting the US government.
The authors of these bills are saying things like these protesters want to burn down the entire country. If the protesters wanted complete destruction, then they probably would have already gone down that path and they did not (unlike the January 6th insurrectionists who did do that). These GOP representatives are calling protesters outright terrorists. Protesters are students who have a conscience and morals. They are not being violent with others unless they are physically assaulted and then they are simply defending themselves. No protesters is being aggressive with those they interact with because these protests often have clear guidelines for those who participate in them, and being aggressive is one of them. Yet, these protesters are categorized as paid agents of Hamas who want to tear down democracy. It is absolutely nothing like that and it is very apparent that the GOP and Democrats refuse to see the facts that these are students who are fighting for peace, because both the GOP and Democrats have a genocide that they are intent on supporting and want no dissent from any Americans.
It is crucial that all of these elected officials are voted out of office. As I have state in previous posts, these people are a danger to have in power, they’re a clear danger to democracy, and our human rights. We have to vote them all out and transfer that power where it should go- to the people.
Please show your support for student protesters. Share articles and information from the protesters and trusted news agencies. If you are able to protest, join the students! There’s many ways to be involved and show your support for the brave people that are risking arrest and attacks in order to end Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.
To those that are protesting:
Never back down. Never give them your voice.
If a college has not agreed to all of your conditions, then continue your protests. Please do not stop if administration is only offering discussions and not action. When they divest, that’s when to put the protest sign down. If a protester needs a break from protesting because it is extremely taxing on a person, no one will look down on that, someone’s health and mental well-being are first. That isn’t giving anyone your voice or power because you took the step to project your voice. That is to be admired and not admonished.
Everyone should be aware that the authoritarian dictatorship is coming. It doesn't matter if it is Trump or Biden, but if either of them win, many of our rights will be lost. Both want to cling to power. Both want no dissent or opposition to their rule. Both are set on enforcing oppression. When either of these candidates takes office, more will be lost.
From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
