Is there any traction for peace in Haiti? Here are the latest updates from Haiti and perspectives from Haitians on what should happen next. The transitionary council has been created, but no names have been released, which means there is no action being taken yet. Since there is a vacuum of authority, the violence continues unchecked.

This process needs to accelerate so that Haitians can establish a government and stability for themselves. The support they need from other countries should come in the form of aid and assistance in resources so that Haitians can create a governing system. When Haiti has a government, other countries should encourage business and trade to help reestablish what was destroyed. Right now Haitians are seeking safety and all countries should open their borders to them. No country should refuse refuge to displaced Haitians. Countries and humanitarian organizations should also be working together to figure out feasible ways in which to ship and distribute aid.
Haiti needs our support and our voice. Let’s advocate for a future of peace for Haiti.
May the whole world be free.
