Part Two: The Democratic Party Platform Breakdown

Preamble

It’s difficult to get through the Preamble without becoming frustrated with the same old lies that the Democrats have used on their platform for the last several decades. You want more freedom, right? Well vote for the Democrats because the other guys are attacking yours and your freedoms are in jeopardy. Our freedoms have been just as much at jeopardy and removed under the Democrats as the Republicans. This is a sick lie the liberals use to make them appear more progressive and they are pushing hard from the jump so they are differentiated from their fellow conservatives.

They’ll fight for abortion? Sure they will. They’ll fight for our rights like the 1st amendment? Sure they will.

To say that they want to protect rights and then go on to highlight how the Democrats have put more officers on the streets shows how removed from reality the Democrats are. If you want to protect our rights, you will be writing legislation that protects them, not hiring enforcers of laws that target POC.

What’s interesting with how the Democrats laid out their platform versus how the Republicans put it together, the Democrats are including how they have handled the policy and a bit about the future for the same policy, while the Republicans simply put out a plan. For the Democrats, it would have worked better your achievements were separated from the plan because it becomes convoluted and muddied. What the Democrat Party Platform looks like is a brag book, or resume that has been exaggerated, and not a plan for the future.

Chapter 1: Growing our Economy from the Bottom Up and Middle Out

  • Deficit has been reduced by 1 trillion

  • 16 million jobs have been created

  • Wages are increasing

    • For who? Are teachers making more money? Are librarians making more money? Are doctors making more money? This is a twisted fact which can be attributed to upper management increasing their wages while other employees are not making more. Only in a few sectors are employees earning more.

  • Promises to keep supply chain in check so inflation does not increase.

    • Where is the plan, Democrats? There is a pledge that the Democrats make to keep supply chains in check. Making supplies less scarce helps with inflation but there are much better ways to decrease inflation like reducing tariffs, taxing the rich, and providing greater assistance to low income earners. None of those were proposed, which means the Democrats support the status quo. Knowing the Dems, they would probably claim that the US-led Prosperity Guardian military force in the Middle Eastern waters is how they are assisting the supply chain while in truth costing American taxpayers billions and does little to assist supply chains.

  • Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

    • The name of the law denotes this is a law is the result of both parties coming together to support infrastructure advancement and not something the Democrats can entirely claim as their own victory. It’s a bill that somewhat helps Americans and at least it is a step toward helping.

    • There are towns that still have no access to clean drinking water, and this is not addressed. Neither is public transportation discussed which would add jobs and help reduce pollution. Now is the time to make major changes in the US infrastructure to provide quality, accessible, and reliable public transportation in every state. Let’s create a free trolley system across the US, and trains for further distances. Let’s create and subsidize walkable cities. The Democrats are only focusing on what they have done, and are not even looking to making any form of progress beyond that.

  • Chips and Science Act & Inflation Reduction Act to bolster manufacturing.

    • The Chips act opens the door for a significant amount of pollution from semiconductors that release PFAS. As for the IRA, it sounds very green and in some instances it can help the environment but there are environmental costs that come from green energy too. Solar farms proposed in the desert and other ecosystems around the US are destroying the land they take up. There is also an issue in the creation of the panels as these minerals are mined in such ways that the land is ruined and there are extreme human rights abuses as well. So there is now a larger amount of demand for mines that will permanently damage and alter ecosystems in the US and there are risks of ground water pollution as well as air pollution due to the increase of semiconductors. While these sound like positives, they are anything but positive other than the rich are profiting off of both opportunities.

  • Dems promise to protect workers rights to organize and getting federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.

    • This is what voters need to hear. Finally the Democrats actually address the needs of Americans. If the Democrats used this energy on all of their policies, then they would be a true party of the left. So far, this is the first point the Democrats have made that helps Americans. The issue for many voters is that the Democrats have said this for so long that they would get the minimum wage up and it has not increased in decades.

  • Business and agriculture are supported through Democratic tax cuts to both areas.

    • If this is in place, then why are so many farms and small businesses struggling? Maybe it would be prudent to create a task force that works directly with both to create a dialogue between the federal government for both small businesses and farms so they can discuss what their needs are and how the federal government can best meet those needs? All the Dems promise in both areas is to protect their tax cuts and loans, there’s nothing further that they are offering. The Democrats said in this platform that they would “look further into” foreign companies owning and operating farms in the US. No, they need to ban foreign companies from owning farms and create a plan that requires farms be US based. Why even state it if you won’t do it? Here in lies the issue with the Democrats.

  • To fight poverty, the Dems are stating that they created greater tax credits for families with children and low-income earners and increasing SNAP benefits.

    • Fantastic! Families and those struggling financially need these tax benefits in order to survive, but then why are credit card balances increasing at alarming rates and people still unable to pay all the bills? These tax credits should become permanent law and not something changed between administrations. Families and low-income earners should have guaranteed protections and not be concerned that things will change every four years. Dems needs to offer more than protecting what they have already done that is not assisting these two demographics enough to make a change. These are the plans that Dems are offering to fight poverty. What about homelessness? That is not even mentioned here.

  • To end special interest giveaways, the Democrats are focusing on insurance.

    • Um, that’s one special interest in thousands that impact American taxpayers. What about the military complex? What about foreign governments like Israel? What about investing firms purchasing homes and insurance companies and driving up costs? I could list thousands of other instances, but the Democrats focus solely on insurance and not even all of the issues with the insurance industry. Interesting. It’s almost like the Democrats do not want to upset insurance special interests too much.

Those are achievements that should be listed, but the one major sticking point in the wage increase while inflation is increasing and people are struggling financially. This story does not add up and the reason why is that wages are increasing for executives but not for workers. Teachers, for instance, are not receiving a pay increase. So where is this pay increase coming from? It’s coming from the executives who are profiting off of price gouging consumers which is leading to the majority of Americans unable to pay all of the bills.

The Democrats want to focus on boosting American businesses and not big corporations. There are several issues with this promise. One, the Dems are bought and owned by the big corporations just as the GOP are owned by them. Two, the Dems state that these smaller businesses have been forgotten, but this is the party in power currently and they are currently not doing anything to help this sector of the economy. It’s disingenuous to say they have been forgotten because the Dems are part of the problem that this sector of the economy has not been assisted but big corporations have. Third problem, our taxpayer dollars are going to fund foreign wars and commit genocide when that money could be spent on policies like this but no assistance will come and this will be another empty promise the Democrats make for votes.

The current economy is not good. People are putting more and more on credit and unable to pay because prices are skyrocketing in all areas from energy, to food, to retail, to housing. There is no concrete plan to check these prices in check but to make sure the supply chain is healthy does nothing to unburden Americans who cannot afford the current economy.

Chapter 2: Rewarding Work, Not Wealth

  • Tax cuts for families that was already mentioned but the Democrats included it again because they are stretching and you will see this repeatedly throughout their platform.

  • Tax the rich and corporations.

    • Okay, so why aren’t the Democrats already doing this? And why was this not brought up in the previous chapter as a means to reduce inflation?

    • This entire chapter was dedicated to Dems v. Trump because the entire text was calling out Trump’s pumping up of the rich and how the Democrats will combat that.

    • The Democrats have had 4 years to do so and have not accomplished any change to the tax rates of the rich or major corporations so what will another 4 years do? This is another drawn out promise that is made and never achieved.

Chapter 3: Lowering Costs

This should be under the previous chapter’s inflation section but the Democrats want to make their platform appear as expansive as possible so they fill it and repeat the same talking points over and over.

  • Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act.

    • What Americans need is Medicare for all. Everyone should have healthcare, not just those who can afford it. Premiums are skyrocketing right now and unaffordable and the Dems are claiming that the threat is Republicans who want these credits to expire when the current system is already unaffordable for many Americans. Dems also claim that they are helping eliminate medical debt when this should not even be a debt for any human being. If Medicare for All were implemented, there would be no medical debt and that medical debt would not be affecting credit scores or putting people on the street and homeless. The way that insurance for all Americans improves the livelihoods of millions of people and gives them the ability to put their money where they need to or even the possibility of saving money is enough of a reason the Democrats should be fighting for healthcare for all Americans as they had in the past but now make their healthcare battle for affordable care as something to be celebrated.

  • Affordable prescriptions and keeping the cost down for some Americans.

    • This is a repetition of everything they said in the previous chapter under the Special Interest Giveaway section. Healthcare should be for everyone and that includes the prescriptions necessary for survival because the reality is that most of the illnesses Americans suffer are due to the pollution that the US government has permitted.

  • Childcare tax breaks and keeping facilities open during Covid shutdown.

    • That was during the Covid shutdown, but what about now? Harris is offering money for the birth of a child, and working on tax breaks, but that truly only accounts for a small percentage of Americans. Dems are stating in their platform that they want childcare to be covered and only cost $10 a day, but then why is this not highlighted when they are out campaigning? Harris has only discussed the money for newborns and not any assistance on childcare. Americans need this but Dems are not even discussing a major point of their platform.

    • What is alarming is the Democrats only offer a blip of information on their plan to help Americans with disabilities. They want to expand services. Okay, what services and how? That is all they offer for people with disabilities.

    • Dems are also planning to redo the nursing home system with better patient to caregiver ratios. That is another huge policy that has not been discussed or highlighted by the Dems.

  • Biden has created paid family leave for the US, but not for all.

    • The only people that have access to paid family leave are those in the military. Why didn’t Biden pass paid family leave for everyone and not just federal employees and military? That’s great this is in the proposed budget (under Biden and not Harris). Congress can easily deny this policy and provide the Dems with an out which is what happens to the majority of the Dems policies. How hard will the Dems fight for this point or will they give it up easily like they have any millions of others like healthcare for all?

  • Democrats will call out the companies price gouging consumers for their gas and groceries.

    • Yeah, that is not working and the Democrats are not doing this now so why would they do this in the future? Americans need more through actual legislation. Grocery bills are at an all time high. If companies are pocketing that money from consumers, then they need to be held accountable. As for gas, the Democrats have increased oil production and won’t admit it in this platform but they have and they will continue to increase more drilling because they profit off of the production.

  • To take down corporate greed, the Democrats want to take down all junk fees and creating a Competition Council.

    • Great! It doesn’t need to be a decades long battle to end junk fees. Why not write a law banning them and then that is that? If the Democrats oppose unfair mergers then why are they not intervening over the Capital One and Discover merger that will create another huge powerhouse in the banking industry and affect competition? The Democrats talk about combating Wall Street spending but do nothing to oppose the creation of another banking institution which limits consumers.

  • For housing, Dems have helped Americans stay in their homes during the Covid shutdown with the American Rescue Plan, they want to build affordable housing, and are providing free internet to qualifying households.

    • There is no discussion about homelessness. There are no programs to help those who have no place to live.

    • These are tiny bandaids that do nothing to address the risks that acerbate poverty and leads to homelessness. Free internet for a percentage of households is a drop in the bucket.

    • Offering tax incentives to builders so they can build affordable housing is another drop in the bucket. There are office buildings that are vacant in all cities, that could be turned into housing. There are millions of homes that are empty that could turned into housing. There are very real solutions to the housing issue but the Democrats don’t ever truly want to resolve.

    • The only thing the Dems have done in the way of homelessness is provided a principle to states to use as a guideline.

  • Education is a long one: ARP gave schools money to reopen after the shut down, 2 billion to Title I schools, provided money to schools to hire counselors and social workers, increased Pell grants, want to make college affordable, want to provide money to trade schools, removed student debts for some federal employees, provided money to HBCU’s, working on reducing tuition for families making under 125,000, and pay teachers more.

    • WOW. This alone could be a platform. How do the Democrats think they will be able to accomplish all of this? This is a big talk which they historically fall flat on. Why not make this plan achievable? How about focusing on teacher pay, removing student loans, and making college affordable for everyone? The points the Dems use as achievements are actually necessities and the bare necessities in the area of education. They are patting themselves on the back for things that should be in place and not a question. How do schools not have sufficient amount of social workers and counselors? Was that money removed from schools in cutbacks and why are these aspects of the budget that are vital necessities not permanent in budgets and not removable? Offering more Pell grants is wonderful, but if college was actually affordable, people would not be requiring assistance.

Chapter 4: Tackling the Climate Crisis, Lowering Energy Costs, & Securing Energy Independence

This one is very upsetting to me because I know how the Democrats have twisted the truth to make it appear that they are the champions of nature when they, on occasion, pass a bill protecting the environment so they can claim that title because the Republicans will pass no bills protecting the environment. There are but a few pieces of legislation which Democrats pose as green, most are not, and the Democrats often create policy that completely backtracks any of their few green policies that have passed yet they proclaim that they stand up for the environment and against pollution.

  • The Democrats have created hundreds of clean energy projects, approved wind projects, and jobs are resulting from all of their clean energy initiatives.

    • Hold those horses, Dems! Are these really clean energy projects or are you destroying land to put up solar farms? That is not green and there is no way anyone can claim that as being green. That is the capitalistic approach to green energy. Where are the pushes for reduction of energy use? Why are there not policies that prioritize using solar on buildings, parking lots, and schools? And as for Big Oil that the Dems attack in their platform, the Biden administration has allowed for the largest increase in oil production so attacking Big Oil should be left out when the Democrats have allowed for the US to not meet the Paris Agreement. As for the wind farm, there have been headlines that some of these new wind farms off the coast are polluting beaches with bits of the windmills that are falling apart. Imagine what destruction of the ocean floor occurred to put those windmills that are already deteriorating in place.

  • Lowering energy costs through rebates on solar for individual homes sounds like a great plan…

    • But it is not. Why? Because these panels are expensive and if you are not able to pay outright, then the individual signing up for solar panels now has a company that owns part of their house. If there is any default, guess who owns part of your house… There is not just a tremendous fiscal risk with signing up for solar, there is also the environmental risk of the actual creation of the panels and breaking down the panels if they are broken. Solar could be a wonderful, green option for energy use but there are so many drawbacks. On top of the environmental risk of mining for the minerals used in solar panels, there are human rights abuses that occur against the miners and those who own the land that is often taken from farmers.

    • Notice that the only achievements that the Democrats are offering are ones in which Americans have to purchase something? Or the land is destroyed in order to maintain the amount of energy consumption of Americans?

    • It is all about profit still and not about protecting the environment. How is this anything different from Republicans?

  • Dems created the American Climate Corps and are helping with carbon sequestering for farmers.

    • Jobs in the area of climate are necessary and it was good to see that these are through environmental groups that the jobs are being offered, but there are no jobs being offered to non-federal environmental agencies like Earth Justice, Wildlands Defense, or the Center for Biological Diversity. There’s a handful of community based environmental groups, but the overwhelming majority are through the federal government. Essentially, this then becomes the federal government filtering more money into their own agencies and pulling in younger Americans for labor in this sector. Don’t get me wrong, this program does help, but the money should go to non-governmental environmental groups because they need the money and they do more work to protect the environment than the federal government or states do. In a way, it feels like a ploy to get labor into agencies like the Department of Energy. This should just be the start for federally funded environmental programs because more programs like this (but actually effective). What is needed are programs that teach the public how to reduce their energy use and how to live a more environmentally conscientious lifestyle with the focus on degrowth and reducing consumption overall. While the Climate Corps is a positive step for the Dems, the carbon sequestering program for farms is absolute trash and just a way for companies to gaslight their emissions levels.

  • Dems are claiming they help environmental justice with allocating 27 billion to the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act

    • Well, look at the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act and it appears like it might help fight emissions, but what it really does it provide money to credit unions. How does that help the environment???????

    • Let’s give money to banks to fight greenhouse gas emissions. This is downright sick.

    • For the Democrats to even say that they stand for environmental justice, they actually have to protect the environment. They should be proposing to make ecocide illegal. They should be banning all logging in Old Growth Forrests. They should be helping and protecting communities that are plagued by pollution. Provide justice for the land that is being destroyed but that is not what is occurring under the Democrats.

    • Giving money to credit unions does not equate with environmental justice at all. This is abysmal.

  • Dems allege they are helping communities through increased aid through FEMA during disasters and helping protect the Colorado River.

    • These are needed and great accomplishments by the Democrats. I do not want to dismiss these two necessities. The issue with this section for communities is that it does not resolve the actual pollution being pumped into communities across the US. THAT needs to be addressed immediately through higher air quality standards and changes to manufacturing and farming that create much of the pollution and waste that destroys communities and puts people and the environment at risk.

  • Dems claim they are placing massive tracts of land under protection.

    • Biden is putting huge areas of the wilderness under protection and that is absolutely phenomenal. Here comes the but, BUT the Democrats are also tearing up huge areas of pristine wilderness for solar projects and wind farms and mining. If you are going to stand on conserving land, then conserve it all. Don’t decimate land in one area and then point to the wilderness that was saved and say, “Well, we do protect land.” It’s not one or the other that needs protecting, it is all land that needs protecting.

    • There is no discussion about the border wall and what it is doing to the environment and the ecosystems along the border. It has destroyed land and cut migratory animals off from accessing their corridors. This is a huge blight across the US and greatly harms animals and what was untouched land until the Democrats came in and fully decimated it.

    • Protect all land. Period.

  • Biden rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement.

    • Another performative action. While it makes it appear the US cares about climate change and reducing emissions and pollution, the US and all countries that have joined the Paris Climate Agreement are failing horrifically to meet their goals they agreed to. What is worse is none of them care, and then turn around and use their participation in the agreement as a means to appear green but actually doing nothing to achieve a greener country and planet.

Chapter 5: Protecting Communities And Tackling the Scourge of Guns

  • Bipartisan Community Safety Act passed which goes after gun trafficking and keeps guns away from domestic abusers.

    • This legislation might protect a few people but in reality we need to…

    • Ban guns. No guns. Guns are not needed. No cops with guns. No military with guns. NO GUNS.

    • Problem solved in the area of gun violence. The Dems won’t ever do anything this drastic because they need the money from their donors and that is why there is still a gun industry and that is why there are deaths as a result of gun violence. It could end if the Dems refused money from the gun lobbies, but they do, so here we are.

  • To ensure Americans stay in line, the Democrats have hired the most cops ever and they are proud of that!

    • That says enough right there.

    • Why not invest in mental health programs, education, outreach, food kitchens, and housing, which would alleviate the need for police because people’s needs are met and they have no need for crime?

    • Nope. The Democrats have funded the police to expand which does nothing to protect Americans and places many Americans at risk of police violence and unjust arrest.

  • Biden pardoned some people that were incarcerated for marijuana.

    • Why can’t the Democrats change the federal law that criminalizes marijuana because people will still then be arrested for marijuana use?

    • Pardoning some and then not changing the law makes absolutely no sense. It was just so the Dems could use it as a talking point in their platform.

    • Marijuana should not be a jailable offense. The fact the Democrats are not fighting to change the law shows that they are just fine with this injustice.

  • To protect women, Democrats are offering money to domestic violence groups and state that they will end all violence against women.

    • If Democrats want to end violence against women then we need laws to change immediately.

    • Women need access to abortions.

    • Women need laws in place that will hold perpetrators accountable and keep them behind bars.

    • Women need femicide discussed and programs implemented in schools to address the issues of male violence against women.

    • Women need access to mental health to heal from the violence and abuse at the hands of men.

    • Women need to be believed and supported by law enforcement and healthcare workers.

    • Where are these policies? Where is this legislation?

Chapter 6: Strengthening Democracy, Protecting Freedoms, and Advancing Equity

  • Biden has appointed 200 diverse federal judge to represent the diversity of Americans.

    • Hopefully these are enough judges to counter the ultraconservative judges that Trump appointed, and while we hope that is the case, the Supreme Court is an entirely rogue branch of the judicial system that needs remedying and restructuring that the Democrats are avoiding in their platform.

  • Biden signed an executive order that called for all branches of the government to support voting access.

    • Isn’t it odd that the Democrats would write this and then go after the Green Party and other candidates that are running third party, to deny their candidate be placed on the ballot throughout many states? The Democrats talk a big game that they want voter access but they are actively blocking third party candidates which completely refutes their so-called support of voting access when they won’t even allow candidates on the ballot. That makes them just as bad as their ultraconservative counterparts, the GOP.

  • Democrats pledge to end dark money contributions and pass an act called the DISCLOSE act that requires ads to include donors.

    • It’s almost shocking how the Democrats stand on this high horse like they do not do these same pandering activities as the Republicans and how none of these pieces of legislation will pass because the Democrats accept money from foreign leaders, look at the AIPAC. That pac pays out to all Democrats and a significant amount especially the higher in office they are and committees they are on.

    • Adopting ethics reforms, enforce merit-based federal contracting, require tax returns to run, and ban corporate PACs from donating to candidates that they are lobbying are all part of their plan for campaign reform. How are they going to accomplish all of this when the GOP will vote against all of these reforms? Here’s what is going to happen just like the Democrats want: the Dems will propose these pie in the sky campaign reform legislation and the GOP will shoot them all down so the Dems can turn to the voters and shrug their shoulders claiming they tried. They promise up and down for change but no change comes.

    • We need campaign reform laws that bans ALL lobbying groups and PACs from making donations larger than $500 and requiring that multiple people from the same group or PAC cannot donate to increase donations- one donation, per group that the lobbyist is affiliated with.

    • There are loopholes even in what the Dems proposed. Notice that they chose to specifically select corporate PACs and not ALL PACs? Why? So that groups like the AIPAC can donate without issue even though they are lobbying for a foreign government.

  • Roe will be restored under the Democrats and contraceptives will be covered.

    • At the end of the section, the Dems unknowingly included one of the major reasons that abortion will not be restored federally and that is because the Democrats can only reinstate abortion access for Americans if they have control of Congress, so without a Democratic majority in both houses, nothing will pass.

    • The Democrats have had a majority in Congress and never did anything to pass abortion federal abortion law enshrining abortion access for pregnant people.

    • What all voters should consider is the fact that the Democrats have had control of Congress and they never enshrined abortion rights and access to contraceptives, so why trust them now?

  • To protect women’s rights the Democrats have passed the PUMP Act, offered more SBA loans to women, and increased postpartum coverage for women on Medicaid. They also want to pass a Paycheck Fairness Act and make childcare $10 a day.

    • These acts are needed for women across the country.

    • Making concrete changes for maternal heath and ensuring that all women are offered care after giving birth has got to change to prevent maternal deaths, and the Democrats say they have been working on this issue because WOC die from childbirth complications at a much higher rate which is outright racism in the healthcare system. While they say they are working to protect access to maternal healthcare, hospitals are closing maternity wings and OBGYN’s are leaving states with abortion bans. Even medication that is needed for pregnant people is being banned in states which will lead to higher rates of maternal death. This is happening under Biden and nothing is being done for the women in these states.

  • To ensure racial equity, the Dems have passed a lot of funding through Pell grants, ARP, Child Tax Credit, SNAP, WIC, and the IRA.

    • Then how is it that people are struggling if they are saying they are doing all of that? People are legitimately struggling to pay the bills because these programs do not cover everyone. An audit of all of these programs should be done and analyzed because the individuals who need this money are not receiving it. The way the Dems make it sound, it’s as if Americans can easy access to food programs, have a huge child credit, and are rolling in money from loans that they have offered for businesses, but this is not the true picture because not all of these programs are accessible to all the Americans that need them.

    • One thing that stands out is that the Dems are claiming that they are fighting environmental injustice with the Justice40 Initiative, but then why does Flint still not have clean drinking water and why are cities across Louisiana still combating worsening pollution that is killing communities of color? Who is actually benefiting from this initiative? Why are there mines being built on and near sovereign Native American land that will and have polluted their communities? It’s conflicting and manipulative to pose as an environmental equity defender when these communities throughout the US are suffering from contaminated water, tainted soils, and air pollution. How does Flint still not have water? How are there Native American communities that have never had access to clean water? And then the Democrats hold up this Justice40 Initiative as proof they take action over environmental issues in minority communities but it solves nothing for those who need water or dying from toxic pollution.

  • Biden has rolled back all of Trump’s anti-LGBTQ+ orders.

    • The reality that the LGBTQ+ community face is a constant battle to maintain rights and access to healthcare that some states have attacked and created laws such as bathroom use restrictions, sports bans against transgender individuals, and stripping access to transitioning services.

    • Not having healthcare kills people and the Democrats have done nothing to protect this right for the LGBTQ+.

    • This is so similar to what is occurring for women and pregnant people’s inability to seek access to abortion services. Democrats say they support these rights but then do nothing to actually protect them. If you say you stand with these communities, then these rights would be protected.

  • The Democrats are hiring disabled people and will enforce laws protecting disabled people.

    • Without access to free healthcare, many disabled people will suffer and many do face homelessness as a result of the high cost for insurance, treatments, and medications. This is not mentioned at all for the Democrats plan to help people with disabilities, just providing greater access which is an ambiguous promise which will not be kept.

    • If the Democrats want to help people with disabilities, then why ban masks which puts many people with chronic illnesses and disabilities at risk? The mask bans many states have enacted will kill people.

    • Trying to use an executive order that only covers federal workers to improve “equality and equity in federal employment” only helps a tiny percentage of disabled people. It’s a step, but this law must cover all Americans for it to be meaningful. Why not create legislation to ensure that people with disabilities are paid equally and have equal opportunity for employment?

  • Biden has appointed Deb Haaland to Secretary of Interior, protected several tribal lands, restarted the Tribal Nations Summit, and the White House Council on Native Affairs.

    • If the Democrats are doing so much for Tribal communities, then why are so many communities without water and shut out of decision making over mines and other environmentally hazardous industries on their sovereign land? Democrats are campaigning that they will work on co-stewardship of land and water with tribes but then they should be doing this currently and are not. The issue is that these mines and other projects will pollute the land and it will be too late, so why campaign on this promise when the Democrats could have these promises in place already as they should have if they are such a champion of Native American rights and sovereignty.

  • Democrats claim they protect all religions

    • As much as they want to be perceived as caring for all religions, the Democrats have preferences just like the Republicans favor Christianity.

    • Democrats wrote many resolutions protecting the Jewish community and attacking Americans free speech rights, but have done nothing to protect the Muslim community after some innocent individuals were murdered over their religious and cultural background.

    • Democrats have done nothing to protect the Muslim community but they do try to silence anyone who speaks out against Zionism.

    • At the Democratic National Convention the DNC refused to allow an Arab American or an American of Muslim faith to speak at the convention while allowing an Israeli family speak.

  • Democrats protect journalists through somehow strengthening security of small media outlets and offering legal support.

    • What is this? This is some big grasping at the air moment for the Democrats because they have nothing here. Why? Because there is no free press except for those independent bloggers who put out newsletters with journalism degrees. That is the free press and that is it.

    • Now, to say you offer support to these journalists, and yet no one has seen or heard of such support is going pretty far. It seems the Democrats mean that they offer what every American is offered a public defender and the ability to call the police if a person feels threatened, then sure, that is protecting journalists, but it is protecting them no different than any other American. If there was a legal defense fund, then this would be a different story.

    • There is a HUGE issue with free press because the press is bought by corporate America and they run it. They put out stories they want the public to hear and bury stories they do not. They spin stories the way they want Americans to hear the stories. This is not a free press system when it is bought and run by corporations that also fund campaigns. Always support those newsletters because and independent journalists because they are doing the real work.

  • Biden wrote an order so that poorer communities could access the arts and they have even handed out medals for art at the Kennedy Center.

    • Wow, big supporter of the arts. Where are these museums and such that are offering free admissions to struggling communities?????? What about programs for children and adults to participate and create art? What about funding for artists? Handing out medals to artists is something all administrations have done, so yeah.

    • What about the attacks on libraries throughout the country and creating protections for funding of libraries and librarians?

  • DC, Puerto Rico, Samoa, and all territories should receive statehood and the Democrats have fought for statehood but are blocked by the GOP.

    • Isn’t it interesting that the times the Democrats had the majority in Congress, none of these things the Democrats claim they want were ever accomplished like providing statehood for US territories? Or abortion? Or LGBTQ+ rights? It’s always the Republicans fault even though the Democrats have had control of Congress in the past, and yet somehow none of this was achieved…

    • US territories should vote on whether they want to join as a state or if they want to exit from US control. It should be up to these territories to decide what they envision for their region and not the Democrats or Republicans. If these regions do decide to leave and become their own sovereign state, the US should provide resources for the colonization and exploitation of the people and land.

    • These people are forgotten and not represented right now under either party. They are under oppression of the US system and deserve to make their own choices with their land and what their people want and need.

Chapter 7: Securing our Border and Fixing the Broken Immigration System

  • Biden and Democrats have built the wall and added more money to defend the border. They are touting this as achievement when they have previously attacked this.

    • Which is exactly what Biden campaigned against in the last election but decided to completely turn 180 degrees. Now there is a deadly border wall that harms wildlife and humans. This wall that Biden swore he would not build a foot, is bigger than anything Trump built. Humans are dying trying to cross it. Animals are dying trying to cross it.

    • Democrats sound just like their conservative counterparts, the Republicans on the issue of immigration and they differ so little other than it looks like the Republicans want the border shut down permanently while Dems want it shut down at intervals.

  • The Democrats want to add more border agents! That is their plan for immigration.

  • Democrats are asking for authorization for the president to shut down the border and deport anyone who entered unlawfully to be deported and to process only asylum seekers who are doing so through the application process.

    • That is what is happening now and asylum seekers who entered without documentation are being deported even if they want to seek asylum.

    • There is currently a huge spike in deportations under Biden and asylum seekers are in greater risk of violence because of these harsh policies which was not the case in the past.

    • Biden also changed the questionnaire that immigration officials ask those seeking to relocate in the US removing the question about fleeing from danger and violence so that people must offer that on their own accord to receive asylum status.

    • Why are Democrats asking for Congress to provide funds so border agents can deport more people as fast as possible? This is already happening right now. It makes no sense to put this in the platform as a plan when they are actively deporting people immediately. Democrats are as inhumane over immigration as Republicans are.

  • Biden is revoking visas and sanctioning officials who are involved in human trafficking and created a task force that targets human trafficking rings.

    • Maybe if there were better ways for people to seek asylum or work in the US (and other countries as well), they wouldn’t be as vulnerable to trafficking because everyone would be able to move between countries more freely to work or find refuge.

    • There will be more victims of trafficking because there are no easy pathways into the US or other countries either.

    • Revoking a few visas and sanctioning a few officials is nothing in comparison to slavery and in comparison people who are looking for work and opportunities in the US are deported and threatened with jail if they enter again without documentation. Human traffickers are not face jail time but people looking for work and to help their families or flee from violence are.

  • Biden and Democrats are fighting against fentanyl smuggling into the US with an increase in machines that detect the drug.

    • More police and more police equipment. That is the answer that the Democrats have for anything related to crime which is no different than the Republicans. Again, this is where it is hard to differentiate the two parties because they show their true colors when it comes to immigration and those colors would be conservative.

  • Congress needs to pass some major changes to immigration laws in the US Citizenship Act in order to increase the amount of asylum seekers, immigrants, and migrants. They are also patting themselves on the back over their humanitarian parole process for select countries.

    • What? That is the plan? The Republicans will want the lowest amount of people entering the US and it seems like the Democrats are siding with the Republicans on this. This is a way to put blame on the Republicans when the numbers to approve each type of application are horribly low, the Democrats can blame the Republicans when they do nothing to fight for it and have supported many of their restrictive and inhumane border policies under Biden.

    • Saying that the Democrats are providing many people entry into the US is such a disturbing farce especially a country like Haiti that has ongoing violence and very few resources available but the Democrats think their parole programs are going splendidly when many Haitians are unable to be approved and need asylum in the US but are deported back by boat. Humanitarian organizations are calling the actions of the US.

  • Biden has worked on DACA, wants to offer more visas to those with jobs, extended TPS for people seeking asylum, and wants to push congress to pass legislation so more people can become citizens.

    • Again, Haitians are in desperate need of TPS but Biden is refusing to allow more Haitians into the country unless through the parole program. Why the Democrats are using this as an achievement is deplorable when there are people that are under threat of violence and death but the US does not provide TPS to them so they can enter the US.

  • Under Biden, the processing of applications has gone much faster.

Chapter 8: Advancing the President’s Unity Agenda

This is President Biden’s specific agenda and probably not Kamala Harris’ agenda that she should present to the American people. Since this is Biden-specific, this chapter will not be analyzed. Could Harris pick up this agenda? Yes, but it seems more than likely not because it is a lot to take on including all of the promises made in all of the other chapters. These are all needed policies, and could have easily been included in previous chapters but for whatever reason the Democrats wanted to highlight these specific areas to lure in voters and appear that they are working hard to help Americans. Making the promise to end cancer is a doozy of a promise to make. Since Harris is not putting out an agenda, everyone should hold her to all of these pledges unless she comes out and says she doesn’t support Biden’s Unity Agenda.

What does Biden’s Unity Agenda include?

  • Beating the opioid epidemic

  • Investing in mental health

  • Protecting children online, strengthening data privacy, and promoting competition

  • Ending cancer

  • Meeting obligations for veterans and military families

Kamala Harris has a lot to do if she is elected president. It’s mind blowing to think that this agenda was written for Joe Biden like he would have been able to accomplish these things.

Chapter 9: Strengthening American Leadership Worldwide

The focus on this chapter is US dominance around the world and the disregard for the United Nations for the power the US wields in NATO.

  • Europe- continue to help Ukraine and support NATO.

    • Apparently all of Europe is Ukraine.

    • Not the Democrats stating that arming Ukraine provides good paying jobs in the US.

    • NATO is tool for aligning countries against America’s enemies- Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea. It has to be part of the participation structure or charter.

  • Indo-Pacific-big money and big military, that’s how the Dems see the region.

    • It’s all about our relationships with specific countries and making groups for these relationships like AUKUS or the Quad (QSD) so they could turn around and block China and the other US enemies just like the US got all the members of NATO to do.

  • China- Dems and Republicans don’t like China because China is competition so the Democrats are charging China with attempting to “reshape the US-led international order”.

    • The Dems are upset that Chinese companies can offer lower prices than US companies and that it harms Americans and then complains of Trump’s tariffs that have cost Americans thousands, but that is what the Democrats want to occur because they want China shut out of American markets. The upcoming congressional calendar is full of both parties working together to shut China out of the American economy that will end up costing Americans money, reducing competition, and breaking down trade and diplomacy between the US and China.

  • Middle East and North Africa- Biden and Democrats are building peace here.

    • This is how you know you cannot take what Democrats say as truthful or factual because in their minds, whether they lie to themselves or that lie is to us, they proclaim they are establishing peace when all of their actions are those who instigate war.

    • Providing funding and arms for Israel’s genocide, sending a huge amount of the US Navy warships to the middle east to bully countries into silence, creating Prosperity Guardian to “protect ships,”and creating contracts and strengthening diplomacy with countries we previously called war criminals so the US can benefit from their regional support, these are all acts of a country that is just wanting peace. Sure, Jan.

    • Biden and the Democratic Party attacks Hamas and fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas as a legitimate means to commit genocide. If anyone can support this line of thinking, they do not support humanity, human rights, or morality. There is no justification for genocide and the Democrats are using self defense when Hamas has offered a ceasefire deal and the release of hostages but Israel constantly refuses because they want to annihilate all Palestinians and annex Gaza. The US is arming and funding this genocide and anyone that supports this party, supports the genocide they are committing.

    • Please also see my previous post on this entire section of Chapter 9

  • Western hemisphere- we want to be profitable and safe in this region.

    • We are paying for Kenyan officers in Haiti, but reports are coming in that the officers are not being paid…

    • We are working well with other countries on immigration though the US has now strained relations with Mexico over the US officials criticism over the change to popular vote for judges.

  • Africa- Democrats want to help promote democratic governments, help economies grow, help with health care, and help with climate change.

    • The Democrats only offered one line about the genocide in Sudan with a clap on the back for themselves over appointing a special envoy who set up peace talks with one of the countries that is funding the genocide which then derailed the peace talks in Sudan. Sudan needs the US to sanction leaders in all warring parties and those who are funding and arming both sides. If the US can sanction Iran and North Korea heavily, they can sanction the RSF and SAF and enact an arms embargo, but while the US can take a heavy hand against Iran and North Korea, they won’t against warring parties that are committing war crimes and genocide.

    • If the Democrats want to help Africa, they need to create policies that  removes military bases and US-based exploitative mining businesses and fossil fuel corporations out of Africa. This would protect human rights and the environment. Offer help to countries that are at war over their resources from militias and other countries that want to annex the land for its minerals.

    • Democrats are promising to get a permanent seat for Africa in the UN Security Council. This debate is actually happening right now and it will be interesting to see if the Democrats actually assist in the reform to the UNSC that African countries are proposing and are needed.

  • Democrats want to profit off of global markets just as much as the Republicans.

    • Democrats can tariff the right way, better than the Republicans who tariff a bit too much for the Democrats taste.

    • Again, the calendar for Congress is all about cutting off trade with China and this is where the parties are no different and work together to block out competition and end up driving prices higher for consumers who are already dealing with bloated charges in every sector.

  • Democrats allege they are leading with diplomacy.

    • Where is this diplomacy? In Palestine? In Sudan? In Ukraine? Genocides are being perpetrated under the Democrats diplomatic policies.

    • The Democrats use Ukraine as their example of their diplomatic prowess. But the war is still ongoing so how is this a success???

  • Strongest military IN THE WORLD, their words, not mine.

    • This is one policy that Harris does share with Biden and this should be a huge red flag for everyone that the Democrats sound no different than the Republicans here. They want to build up the military and put more money into weapons and the war industry just like the Republicans do.

    • What about disarmament? What about reducing the military? What about reallocating these funds for people and climate change? No. The Democrats are looking at profit and the ability to oppress, which to them means power. They are not looking at decreasing but increasing our military and our armament.
