Find yourself an anchor in your life that you find joy and peace in. Everything is in disarray. There is very little consistency in any areas of our world. Our climate is erratic. Our leaders are erratic. Our economies are erratic. This continuous upheaval is causing and generating a lot of anxiety and depression. People are stressed, and deservedly so.
What brings you happiness that is set apart from consumerism and capitalism? Meditating, volunteering, taking nature walks, gardening, writing, creating art, watching birds, dancing, and watching the sunset, are all activities that are not dependent on a person purchasing. Gardening might require a few plant purchases upfront and art you might need some materials, but it’s not about constant purchasing to keep up appearances or stay on top of the latest trend or unnecessary purchase.
These activities and others that are in the same vain express who you are and ground you.
For me, it’s spending time outdoors. My love of nature has been since birth. Whether I am hiking, feeding the birds, or gardening, I am my happiest when I am outdoors. When my anxiety is bad, or I am stressed, being in nature helps to pull me into the world I truly exist in. It’s not plastic or fake, everything is real and everything coexists so amazingly together. There is love and tenderness between animals, plants, insects, and the earth. At my saddest, I can step outside and realize how truly blessed I am to exist on this beautiful planet and get to witness the most loving moments. I appreciate these times with my entire heart because that moment was meant for me to witness. It’s special and priceless.
Just today while watering my black sage, a hummingbird asked for a shower so I turned the mist on and she took a long shower in the soft spray. Then a Western Tiger Swallowtail and Monarch butterfly did the same. This was so precious to me. My heart may have flown off with them out of happiness.
When I place the seed out in the morning before the sun rises, I watch the cranes and storks fly from the nearby lake. On occasion I get a honk from them. There’s been so many moments, but I would have never had them unless I spent time outdoors doing what I love.
When you find what you love, you heal. The world that is falling apart around you is manageable because you are grounded in you and that anchor is there and won’t depart. What you create is an incredible reciprocation cycle that is unbreakable, and because it is unbreakable, you can survive better through these dark times.
I hope everyone can find their anchor. This storm will not cease and we will need all that love generated from our passions to hold onto dear life.
Our world is destabilizing and our planet is suffering. Every moment we have that we can spend doing what we love, focusing on that joy, and sharing it with your loved ones, will make a tremendous difference for you and the people in your life.
