The Things I am Grateful for From 2023

This year has broken the world and humanity. The environment is crumbling from the misdeedof mankind. Oppressors are dominating this world, revoking more of our rights, while capitalism drives the greedy system into greater loss as it takes a toll on the backs of those who hold it up.

Despite these disheartening truths, I cling tightly to the things I am grateful for. This increased sadness present in our world deepens my gratitude. The world breaking into pieces doesn’t steal my appreciation for the love present in my life. I will never let it be stolen.

My children. My kids are the people I want to spend my time with and give my time to. Each second is a gift with them that I cherish. Time is fleeting and priceless and I want as many minutes possible with them. We have fun together and laugh a lot. Of course there are squabbles but there is never hate or anger. I’m extremely blessed.

Nature. It’s my heaven and haven. It’s my sanctuary. It’s my safe place. It is where everyone is free. It is where everyone is loved equally. It is where beauty is born. It is where I can heal. For me, all love is present the second you enter the outdoors.

People- from friends, to family, to strangers. The people in my life mean so much to me because they accept me for who I am and I adore them for who they are. I’ve learned and grown so much from listening to their stories or their advice. It’s the first time in my life I don’t have anxiety and doubts with friends and family because we can communicate our feelings freely without concern.

My voice. I had lost my voice. I let it go. I understand that this was my choice, and it was a mistake, but I regained my power and found my voice. This turnaround has made me a bit proud. When I share my thoughts and what I am passionate about with the world, my soul feels heard. I’m both proud that I am voicing the words of my heart and sharing it.

To all the tiny moments. When the wind hits my face and the sun shines warmly on my cheeks. When the crows giggle above my house every morning. When someone laughs from my jokes. When the sunrise and sunsets greets me and send me off sweetly each day. When a new song plays and I must dance. When the cup of coffee I made comes out just right. When the giggle fits hit from utter silliness. When things that sparkle catch my eye.

I walk through my day giving thanks. I am so grateful for my life, the people in it, where I am at, and where I am headed.

Thank you for reading my blog. Thank you for spending time on my site. I am grateful for you.

This New Year’s Eve, I hope we can all count our blessings and be in a place of happiness. I know that is not the case for millions who are facing violence and death, and I pray for your safety, wellbeing, and peace.

May 2024 bring freedom from ALL oppression. From the river to the sea, may the whole world be free.

What can we all do to make 2024 a better year?
