“Our world is in upheaval,” he said. It is that way because of YOU. “It is a clash between barbarism and civilization,” he said. Israel is the most barbaric country that tortures innocent Palestinians and murders for sport. That is barbaric. Monsters, barbarians, evil, death lovers, all of which Netanyahu painted Palestinians, Hamas, and Iran. The man couldn’t even keep the names and stories straight of the hostages the IDF recovered from PGaza. He paints the picture that Israel did not bomb their own people on October 7th and that Hamas was solely responsible for the deaths of 1200 Israelis. Netanyahu only shines the light on the few hostages that Israel has recovered and not the ones still in Gaza or a solution to bringing them home. There is only the implication that the IDF are heroes and this genocide is justified to go on despite the fact that they could all be home if Israel agreed to a ceasefire. A family member of one of the hostages still in Gaza was thrown out of Congress for wearing a shirt that asked to bring her family members home. Nothing adds up. It doesn’t add up. To say that the US and Israel are some sort of protectors of civilization, but then they silence their own citizens who are asking for help or for standing up for human rights is Illogical. Netanyahu stated that he won’t rest until all of the hostages are home, but he could be resting (in a jail cell in The Hague) and there could be an end to the violence if he truly meant what he said and he earnestly negotiates with Hamas and withdraws from Gaza so that all the hostages can be released. Why war when there is such a peaceful and simple solution? It keeps the hostages at risk. The only “intensive efforts” to bring back any hostages Are the increased bombings and ground attacks throughout Gaza that are slaughtering innocent Palestinians. However, these “intensive efforts” are not bringing anyone home, it’s not meant to, it’s meant to be used as a way to legitimize the genocide of over 186,000 Palestinians. Comparing the attack in Israel to 20 September 11th events is off the charts disrespectful. Close to 3,000 Americans died that day and 1,200 Israeli’s died in the Hamas attack, most of which was at the hands of Israel who fired on their own people. These two events are incomparable and it is disturbing he tries to link them together. Of course Netanyahu thanks Biden for his support and sending aircraft carriers. Of course these two men are besties. You are the company you keep, and they’re Zionist colonizers. Later in his speech, Netanyahu thanks a solider who had family involved in the Holocaust saying that this man would have nowhere to go after enduring the Holocaust if Israel had not illegally stolen land from Palestine. And then Netanyahu came for the protesters which is an odd point to make at this point in his speech, a pivot out of nowhere to undermine the anti-Zionist movements. “Many anti-Israel protesters choose to stand with evil,” Netanyahu falsely asserted because he is then implying that committing a genocide is not evil and his actions are somehow fully justified. “They should be ashamed of themselves,” he smugly says while he himself is accused of war crimes and genocide. One thing protesters supporting Palestine are not is ashamed of themselves. No, they are brave for standing against genocide and protecting human rights. What is there to be ashamed of? He should be ashamed for trying to twist this narrative to make protesters the bad guys when Israel is the bad guy. Claiming that Iran is behind the protests is actually hilarious. It’s a big statement to make without providing any evidence of this. What is even funnier is that Netanyahu goes on to thanking a bunch of racists from the University of North Carolina. But he doesn’t stop there, he goes on to further blame Iran for funding the protests against Netanyahu’s visit. “You have become Iran’s useful idiots!” Well, that really brings people together, being called an idiot and supporting a country that protesters have never even mentioned in demonstrations ever because the protests are solely against Israel’s genocide and colonization of Palestine. It’s odd that he didn’t call them Hamas and chose Iran. Continuing his rant, Netanyahu tried to lay claim to Israel’s land based on religion and not on the people who were living there for many generations and indigenous to the land. Just because the Jewish faith has ties to an area, doesn’t mean it should take that land in the name of their faith. No faith or group has legitimization stealing land and killing for it. Woven into laying claim on land that is not there’s, Netanyahu brings up antisemitic accusations against Jews from the past and that the criticism that are being leveled against Israel are the same as what has occurred in the past. It’s not. These are very real accusations of war crimes and genocide that are credible with serious evidence to support these accusations. It is not antisemitic to hold Israel accountable for the atrocities they are committing but this is the twist of definitions that Netanyahu is using to try to evade accountability. Oh he lays it on so thick that any claim of genocide is meant to “delegitimize Israel” but the issue is that Israel is actually perpetrating these war crimes per international law. It is not slander or antisemitic but he weaponizes antisemitism to mean any criticism is antisemitic. No one is demonizing the Jewish faith or people. It is Israel but he lays claim to the entire faith. The truth is now antisemitic in Netanyahu’s book. There is no aid entering Gaza based on statistics of previous years and even at the beginning of the war, so, yes, Israel is forcibly starving Gaza. Hamas doesn’t steal what was never distributed or even made its way into Gaza because Israel will not let it. Defending their war tactics when they target civilians using the whole, “they’ve been given notice so it’s on them” is not the entire truth of the situation because not everyone gets the warning about imminent attacks, but also there is no where to seek shelter in because so much has been destroyed. There has been no evidence provided from Israel that Hamas uses schools and hospitals, but Netanyahu still affirms that they do even after it’s been refuted by new agencies. The coup de gras is when he stated that Hamas uses human shields to make Israel look bad, but it in fact is just Israel indiscriminately targeting civilians which has been proven to be true through IDF soldier’s accounts. How deluded does Netanyahu have to be to say that Israel is taking any precautions to prevent harm to civilians in Gaza. The reality is quite the opposite. If this were the truth, there would be not an ongoing investigation and case against Israel committing a genocide in Gaza, Netanyahu wouldn’t be facing arrest warrants, and the ICJ wouldn’t have issued a ruling which revoked Israel’s claim to sovereignty for their crimes against humanity. Attacking an international body of justice, the ICC, for calling out war crimes and playing the victim and not the facilitator of genocide, Netayhu chooses to fear monger conservatives that if Israel is treated badly m, then so is the US.
Why did Congress give this fascist a platform? It’s because they are also fascist. You are the company you keep.
Vote out elected officials that support Netanyahu and Israel.
As for the members of the Democratic Party that did not attend this speech, so what. They have voted to send money and weapons to Israel. This is performative and nothing more.
Vote out elected officials that support Netanyahu and Israel.
The fact that congress allowed for a war criminal to speak before them and to applaud his lies and legitimization of his war crimes, shows you where US elected officials stand. They stand with a fascist oppressor because they are also fascist oppressors. You are the company you keep.
