Hi.

Thank you for visiting A World Betwixt Worlds. New content is added weekly.

Is there a ceasefire? Is Israel really agreeing to these conditions? There are too many conflicting reports and no way to pinpoint what is truly occurring with the ceasefire

This is a huge mess. Let’s get one thing straight, Hamas presented Israel with this deal weeks ago and Israel refused. The US scoffed at this same deal and is now presenting it to the world as if they created it when it was Hamas that first proposed these exact same conditions. How the US is making these claims is absolutely proving the level of callousness from the White House knows no bounds. Who has that level of nerve to have refused the exact same deal but turns around and touts a pathway to end the war is through the very same deal the US flat out denied?

The mess does not end. It is massive. On top of the US now claiming the Hamas temporary ceasefire/hostage exchange, some of Israel’s leaders have threatened a coup if Netanyahu agrees to the deal. There is currently a lot of fighting going on within Israel’s government. These Israeli leaders who have threatened Netanyahu want to finish the genocide of innocent Palestinians and ending the war would mean an end to the annexation of Gaza and the genocide. The ICJ needs to include these Israeli officials in their arrest warrants because these people are pushing for even more death and destruction than Netanyahu. This could be for show, of course, and a way for Netanyahu to fall out of these negotiations that the US is pushing on Israel. If this is a real threat, and these insurrectionists were able to overthrow Netanyahu, it would open Israel up to attacks from their neighbors because Israel would no longer have a legal, functioning government. This would have to be the one factor that would actually get the US to cut off arms shipments if there were an unrecognized, rogue government running Israel. But who knows? One thing we do know is that this is a mess.

Yes, that mess is not done. There are reports that Netanyahu has agreed to the deal, but there are also reports that he has not agreed to the deal because he wants Hamas dismantled. Which is it? It seems like Israel is not going to go through with it because Hamas will not dissolve their organization. The big story circulating right now is that Netanyahu is not thrilled with it and is picking apart the deal, which means he’s just pacifying the world by considering it but he is going to refuse the exchange and truce. Hamas has said that they will dissolve if Israel ends the war and gives back land and hostages, which would take time, but Israel does not agree to those conditions. Israel does not want this genocide to end.

Many of the headlines have stated that this is a clear win and a done deal, but it is far from over. Do not congratulate Biden since this was never his proposal to begin with but Hamas’. We can all cheer when the last IDF soldier exits out of Gaza and all air strikes cease permanently. Israel has a tendency to do horrific things when the world is focused on these projected ceasefire plans.

Israel never cared about the hostages. As much as they claim that they want to bring them home, there have been too many opportunities of truces and exchanges that they have refused which shows how little they care about the hostages. If they did care about the hostages, this deal would have been agreed upon weeks ago when Hamas first proposed it or the dozen other opportunities they denied.

There are consequences to the atrocities and Israeli leaders will face charges for the war crimes they have committed. The threat of those warrants might just be the motivation needed to end the genocide. It is sad and pathetic that no leaders or nations were strong enough to sanction or embargo Israel or the countries that supported Israel, namely the US. But this hostage exchange/truce has to be accepted still. Bombs are still targeting Palestinians and refugee camps are still being attacked by Israel.
