Biden is not calling for a ceasefire. Believe it when the bombs stop dropping and the guns are locked up

Too many people are falling for Biden’s game. Look at the word choice he used in his tough phone call with Netanyahu. The president said that a ceasefire is “essential” but never used the words call or demand. There were no contingencies placed on Israel from the US if they do not stop their genocide.

I get it though. A lot of people are hopeful and want a ceasefire, but there is the cold reality that the president is not doing anything to ensure a ceasefire. When these hopeful people read that Biden has called for a ceasefire in headlines from prominent news agencies, they didn’t question it.

The White House confirmed that they would change tone with Israel if Israel does not change. The issue with this statement is that it’s so ambiguous. It’s meant to be ambiguous because if the US had truly given an ultimatum they would tell the public that we will see changes. Adding a big ‘if” allows the US and Israel major wiggle room to avoid ever having to actually be held to that statement. No timeframe was provided (because there is none). What specifically would change? Does Israel know these conditions? The answers to both of those questions are no because the US never gave Israel any ultimatum.

This is the world we live in now where we have to dissect our leaders words and hold them up to their actions to see if they are actually doing what they’re saying. Unfortunately we live in a time where we cannot just trust elected officials words or even what news agencies put out because this should have never been a headline.

Yes, Biden did have a conversation with Netanyahu, but to say he demanded a ceasefire when those weren’t even the words he used, is gross deceit from news agencies.

The other story that has emerged from this “tense” conversation is that Netanyahu has promised to open two border crossings to allow more aid into Gaza. Again, believe it when we see trucks pouring through the crossing and delivering aid to humanitarian agencies without issue.

What more than likely happened in that conversation between Biden and Netanyahu was the two genociders colluding together so can avoid any prosecution for their war crimes. The two ideas that came from their dialogue was to continue their performative show by presenting to the media that they discussed a ceasefire and aid entry, but these leaders will always avoid ever completing their proclaimed changes. Israel should have already been allowing aid into Gaza and observing and participating in a truce. There is a UN resolution calling for aid entry. There is a UN resolution calling for a temporary ceasefire. Now Israel is going to do both things?

Will Israel ever actually do what they promise?

Will the US ever hold Israel to account?

People are applauding these brave steps that the US and Israel have taken, but these have been UN resolutions that they should be respecting and supporting already.

Again, these promises were for show because the US is pushing for a hostage/truce deal to go through. so all of these proclamations are meaningless. The US and Israel want to give the optics like they uphold human rights while breaking them. They do not want the hostage deal to be achieved because then they can blame the continued fighting and limiting aid into Gaza on Hamas.

As an added twist to the unraveling of the US government, the House is set to vote on a measure that condemns the efforts which pressure Israel, and is directed at the president. This measure will show the divide in the Democratic Party, which should not be present if these legislators were actually progressives and liberals, but since they are conservatives, this legislation will who how fragmented the so-called left is. Republicans might be surprised, as in other recent votes about Israel and other typical conservative ideals, that the Democrats are siding with them.

The UN has passed an arms embargo for Israel. Will countries respect the embargo? How will other countries respond to those that break the embargo?

What we need from leaders:

Leaders should be honest and upfront with their constituents and the whole world.

Give us your plans and inform us how you intend to make peace and progress.

Countries should hold other countries accountable when committing war crimes. This should not be a different standard dependent on the country, but the same standard across the board.

If our leaders lie to us, mislead us, deceive us, use us, and oppress us then those leaders should be voted out of office.

Elected officials should not talk down to their constituents and act like they are above the law, or soon their constituents will have no more faith in the law. It is part of the job to be held to what you say.

From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
