When a person is suffering, love and support is not offered. It is a rare thing to witness or hear that someone shared their pain and for this world to listen in earnestness and provide support for this person. People are more comfortable turning a blind eye to another person’s pain. Why?
It’s not too much for any of us to handle and it should never be because who is to say we would not be in those same shoes. What if the world offered you more pain on top of the pain you’re experiencing? This would leave a lasting impact on your own compassion for others and it created isolation. We then become a society that is disconnected and disjointed.
When a person is in pain, they’re ostracized and criticized for their agony.
When a victim tells their story, they’re attacked and dismissed.
When someone shares their joy, they’re questioned and dissected.
We are losing the ability to share from our hearts.
This world is in chaos. Things are collapsing. Let’s not sugarcoat reality. We all have to face what is going on with our planet that is failing due to the pollution we created. Governments are also failing. Everyone is grasping for power out of fear. With the world collapsing, governments are looking to control more resources and tighten control of their people because they fear. It is this fear that silences compassion. It is also the destructive emotions like hate, resentment, jealousy, and denial which have become the more prevalent emotions.
As things worsen with climate change and with further deterioration of governments toward complete dictatorships, compassion will decline more and more as a result.
Compassion requires a person to listen and to take action in response to what they’re told. It’s that internal volition to comfort or help another person or thing that makes this emotion so special and powerful.
We can do something to keep this act alive and well. Be brave and show compassion. Spread that compassion to every person you touch.
It is so much easier for hurt people to infect this world with their pain. Everyone is hurting and in pain right now. People that are hurting and in pain, who don’t deal with these emotions, will in turn infect others from these wounds that never healed. Those wounds eventually kill compassion and the other benevolent emotions attached to compassion like kindness, openness, respect, and sympathy.
As the world begins to burn and governments crumble, what type of person do you choose to be? Do you choose to live in fear and turn toward hatred or do you show this world that you are stronger than fear and can remain open and compassionate?
