Hi.

Thank you for visiting A World Betwixt Worlds. New content is added weekly.

Because no country has done so, the UN is spelling it out for world leaders- Don't arm Israel or you will be breaking international humanitarian law

Sanctions and embargoes should have been in place months ago for Israel. The US has bribed and bullied the world into inaction. Meanwhile, the UN has tried to implore leaders to do something since Israel began pummeling Gaza with missiles and invaded it in retribution for Hamas’ attack on Israel, but none of the world leaders have taken the heavy-handed hint from the UN. The result from the inaction of our leaders is that Gaza is being completely decimated and over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed. Palestinians of all ages are starving and suffering from lack of medicine, warmth, and safety.

We have all heard these leaders speeches and statements that they care or are “concerned”, but they do not sanction and embargo Israel like they do so with other countries under similar circumstances, and it has gotten to the point that the UN has had to demand action from world leaders and remind them about their role in upholding and respecting international humanitarian law.

World leaders should have sanctioned Israel and placed an arms embargo on Israel at the very least. The UN has been asking nations to take a stand, but they have not, which has pushed the UN to release this information as a warning to countries who plan to send arms or funding to Israel.

UN experts released this statement today:

“All States must ‘ensure respect’ for international humanitarian law by parties to an armed conflict, as required by 1949 Geneva Conventions and customary international law,” the experts said. “States must accordingly refrain from transferring any weapon or ammunition – or parts for them – if it is expected, given the facts or past patterns of behaviour, that they would be used to violate international law.”

“Such transfers are prohibited even if the exporting State does not intend the arms to be used in violation of the law – or does not know with certainty that they would be used in such a way – as long as there is a clear risk,” they said.

This is where we are as a world, that the UN had to state what is clearly obvious: arming or sending arms to Israel breaks international humanitarian law, and those countries that send arms to Israel or funding for Israel’s military, are breaking the Geneva Convention.

Who is the UN addressing? The US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, and Australia. The US is the greatest offender. From the start of the war on Gaza, the US had sent at least 10,000 tons of arms to Israel, that the public and press know of but much has been hidden from the world because of warranted criticism.

Right now, the US congress is debating a massive arms and funding deal for Israel. The “liberals” are trying to push for the Israel/Ukraine funding bill to pass so they can send more arms to Israel. What the UN released today should kill this bill. Should…

What American voters should take note is that the Biden administration and Democrats had to be reprimanded by the UN that their proposed arms funding for Israel, without a doubt, breaks the Geneva Convention. These are the people we have in office who claim to care about humanity over the ultra-conservative GOP.

The statement from the UN was needed. Why didn’t they release this months ago? Were they hoping that world leaders would take action and sanction and embargo Israel? It was apparent from the beginning of the war on Gaza that countries would not stand up to the US.

If the UN wants to really get the message across, they should hold an introductory course for world leaders on the Geneva Convention and the Genocide Convention. Why not sit down and teach them about how they are breaking international law, and then present it to the public? Teach world leaders and leave no question as to what the law means and how they are breaking it. Every time there is an article that is broken by a member of the UN assembly, the presenter should ask those specific countries if they understand the law and have them explain it. If they try to argue around the fact that they have broken international law, this could be used in a case for the ICJ or ICC especially if these countries attempt to export arms to Israel. There should be no questions or deniability whether a country is breaking the Geneva Convention or the Genocide Convention.

So what is the US’ response to the UN experts explaining how they are outrightly breaking international humanitarian law? They are awfully quiet right now. Is the US going to try to discredit the UN? The collective actions of the US government have shown a new depth of depravity and oppression under the guise of liberalism but is ultimately fascism.

US elected officials are breaking the Geneva Convention and using taxpayer money to fund Israel’s genocide against the wishes of the American people. The US government is complicit in Israel’s genocide, war crimes, and atrocities. This is who is running the US government, and this must change.

We have to vote these people out now. Your ballot is your voice.

Vote them out. Vote 3rd party.

We have a chance to break the two-party system. This is our time for our voice to be heard.

From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
