So many are silent.
So many who state that human rights and liberties are what they fight for are silent.
So many who have power say they are powerless.
So many more should be joining the fight for Gaza.
This is heartbreaking to see the wide performative nature of people who want to keep an oppressive system in place, but this is exactly what we are seeing. People who portray themselves as activists are absent. People who have campaigned as human rights defenders have no words for the genocide of Palestinians. People who truly have the power to make changes are now impotent.
Their silence condemns them. There inaction condemns them. There will not be a day that this world does not haunt these liars with the repercussions of their silence and inaction. I’ve seen the burden these people carry with my own eyes and it is pitiable. Their lives revolve around the lies and impressions they want others to perceive but can never carry out the principles they extoll and live a life constantly triggered because the inaccuracies of what they do and say catch up with them. These people attack if they are ever held to account and deflect any facts with their delusions. What is truly sad is that this is absolutely reflective in the people who are silent because the reality is that they do not condemn the actions of Israel. If questioned, they attack as an act of self-preservation. They become defensive because the con is up. They cannot any longer make the claim to be progressive, liberal, ally, or a rights activist because they quietly support the actions of Israel, the genocide, and the war crimes. They want their comfort and their way of life undisturbed. Their way of life is more important than the lives of innocent Palestinians and threatening their comfort has proven who they truly are- soulless.
There is no point in discussing anything with the silent and those who are not taking action. They will attack you back because you have the gaul to hold them to account. They cannot be questioned. To them, their inaction and silence is perfectly acceptable even while defying the person they claim to be.
Those people are dangerous. They cannot be trusted. If actions cannot match with words, that person has ulterior motives and you will get caught in their lies. This can be applied to friendships all the way to politicians, which is sad to see so many who live by deceit.
Why? Why are so many silent?
Many find comfort in the oppression of others. Many find comfort in silencing those who challenge them as well. “If another is oppressed, then I will not be.” This directly relates to racism. Many of these people spoke out about other countries, many have defended specific groups, or spoke out against harassment within a community, but do not extend the same energy toward the genocide of Palestinians. It’s glaringly apparent that racism has played the major part in the difference of action. What was witnessed when this person stood up for others was a performative act. If a person holds a principle, it should be across the board or they do not hold that principle. It is as simple as that. Think of this mathematically, and if the actions for each instant do not follow the standard that this person set for themself, they do not hold that standard. Their actions lack correlation and then validity when claiming to care, fighting oppression, or fighting for others is not the same for each instance.
So many have built themselves up to be a dynamic person who fights for all people, but now they are silent because it wasn’t for everyone, it never was. They fight for others only when it suits them. They fight only when clout can be made from the situation. It was never for other people, it was always about them.
At the core of the silence and inaction is the reality of who a person is, and that is racist and oppressive. They want people oppressed because this questions their comfort but also much more. They will not speak up because the core of who they are is racist. To support one group of people and not another without any logical or ethical reasoning only proves the argument of racism to be true. This person with mismatching value systems is a danger because you never know when you will become the liability to them. It’s a horrible feeling to be attacked by a person you cared for and believed in, it does break a heart.
As for leaders who have not lived up to the person they proclaimed, they must go. This is part of being in elected office. If the elected official does not match the person they campaigned as, they cannot be trusted. It is scary to think of so many politicians fiercely defending democracy and individual rights, but they remain silent or offer meager sorrow for the deaths of Palestinians. What they really endorse is the system of oppression and racism, because their actions are rooted here. They have the power to make change, they are not impotent. If elected officials lived by what they said we would have had a ceasefire within days of the siege. Vote these elected officials out. They are dangerous to have in a place of power and have proven they cannot be trusted.
Do not lose faith in humankind. Reduce your circle. Keep faith and give your energy to people who have demonstrated their words and actions over time, and the people who do not, remove from your circle. That means the circle gets smaller over time as people show you who they actually are, but it is nothing to lose faith in humanity over. Lose faith in that person. Give faith and hope to those who live by their words and actions. Hold onto the people who walk the walk and do not grieve the deceivers or that you were deceived.
For those who live a life of deceit, I am sorry you have given into fear and hate. The sentence you have chosen is a hell I do not wish on anyone for their life revolves around hate, inconsistencies, lies, manipulation, and seeks to oppress the free. A life built on fear and hate is not a life. They live in a prison they created, and they will want you imprisoned just as they are.
My faith, hope, and love to all who live what they say. The people of Palestine are a testament to this.
