The genocide of innocent and vulnerable Palestinians continues, and so few leaders are willing to call the siege on Gaza a genocide. 10,000 Palestinians have been killed. Women have no place to have their babies and are undergoing c-sections without anesthesia. Cancer patients are dying after their hospital ran out of fuel and have no care available. Thousands of Palestinians cannot reach the Rafah border out of fear of death. Many pro-Israeli pundits are doing their absolute best to refute the siege on Gaza is a genocide. It is genocide. They often use the excuse the IDF gives, “there is a Hamas member within (refugee camp, school, mosque, church, hospital), so this justifies us destroying (refugee camp, school, mosque, church, hospital).” This does not provide justification under either the Geneva Convention or the Genocide Convention.

The UN releasees this statement directly calling the actions of Israel war crimes. They go on to demand an immediate ceasefire and are horrified at Israel’s refusal for a ceasefire and the abhorrent, inhumane treatment toward innocent Palestinians. UN- Gaza is Running out of Time
How can citizens respect their elected officials who endorse the Israeli siege on Gaza, or view these officials as legitimate? How are citizens expected to follow the rule of the law but our elected officials openly support genocide and war crimes and do not uphold human rights? How are citizens carrying a financial responsibility and weight of death, violence, ethnic cleansing, and extermination when the majority do not support the Israeli war on Palestinians?
The ICC has asked world leaders for their support in “enforcing sentences, arresting suspects, and freezing assets.” The court can only do so much without the actions from world leaders to enforce the court's decisions. Accountability is in our hands if we hold those responsible to account. This is the duty of the electorate. This is the duty of protecting human rights. Urge your elected representatives to support the ICC if your country is a member.
Actions need to be taken. Each day has been a day too long.
The reality of so many people being comfortable with this evil is terrifying. Each day that this continues mirrors the loss in humanity we all must witness, realize, and come to terms with. Those who champion the actions of Israel, world leaders who are silent, leader who reiterate the Israeli rhetoric as justification, officials and institutions that silence opposition, and the voters who continue to endorse these people will have to reckon with their actions, responsibility, and the unflinching truth that they will face. They are responsible for the genocide of innocent Palestinians. The stain of death does not wash off those who have committed it. Shattering humanity is something a person cannot come back from.
