Hospitals across Gaza have completely shut down. There is no medicine or electricity to run them. A small handful of hospitals remain open but with little to no medicine. The Palestinians are suffering immensely and dying.
The death toll in Gaza is at 5,791 Palestinians killed.
Infants in NICU’s will die. Mother’s giving birth will die and suffer greatly. Patients that are in desperate need of specific medications will die. There is no compassion for these innocent people and the violence that was forced on them.
Israel is using the justification that Hamas runs the healthcare system. There is no evidence that Hamas runs anything other than their terrorist organization. The Palestinian Authority runs the healthcare system. The fact that no world power is defending Palestinians right to medical care and calling out the untruth so that the Palestinians can have their medical needs met, is despicable.
The UN met yesterday to call for a ceasefire but the United States rejected the resolution and stalled it from proceeding. The US should not wield such power over any entity. As stated in a previous post, it will take ALL of the world leaders to confront the US which is hellbent on Gaza’s destruction and the death of millions of innocent Palestinians.
The world has to come to terms. Israel and the US are committing war crimes. They are bullies on a world stage. Israel and the US are both committing war crimes, not just allowing them, but actively committing them. World leaders must condemn both countries, their actions, and hold them accountable in both the UN and the ICC.
Maybe this is how the other countries who were at the precipice of WWII viewed Germany. They were such a strong nation, they could never do such things. Yet they did. It was the refusal and apathy that allowed WWII to continue when the war crimes were committed years before leading up to the war, and those countries remained silent. This is why the UN, the Geneva Convention, the Convention on Genocide Prevention, the ICC, and the Human Rights Declaration were created. These institutions and agreements were created to protect the world from what is happening right now, but here we are. We need leaders to stand up and call out these atrocities.
It is a world of upheaval when the electorate of the US is up in arms over the war crimes the government that we elected and the response we receive are threats from them and to silence our voices. Protestors are violently arrested. CEO’s are being fired over their support for Palestine. Student organizations are being attacked and doxxed. Authors and academics are refused their lectures. Professors are losing their classrooms in universities. Where are the First Amendment protections that we have in place for those speaking out on humanitarian issues? The US government is also silent on these issues defending 1st amendment rights because they want the electorate to remain silent as they commit further war crimes. They want you to be scared. Don’t be. Justice and the law are your allies, there are protections in place that they cannot remove. Don’t be scared and don’t give into the silence that they so desperately want from voters.
The ICC is meeting currently and assessing the situation in Gaza. Hopefully some indictments will be made across the board including Israel and the US in these charges. Not allowing humanitarian aid into a war zone, attacking hospitals, shutting off water and electricity, not allowing for safe and neutral zones, incessant and indiscriminate bombings, blocking borders for safe withdrawal of civilians, killing the sick and injured, killing mothers and infants, these are all war crimes (please review my other post on Israeli war crimes).
Russia is creating another resolution for the UN Security Council to vote on tomorrow. The US is adamant on not allowing a ceasefire though. It will take everyone to overturn their veto when they do veto the Russian resolution for ceasefire. It is also important for US voters to remember these actions when voting. The elected US officials were entrusted with upholding human rights and international law, which is being disregarded for their own means despite the electorate wanting our officials to follow the law and support human rights. If the US vetoes further peacekeeping resolutions and humanitarian aid to Palestine, it should be extremely clear where these representatives stand regarding law and human rights if it is not already.
It might feel like a hopeless situation, but everyone who cares for humanity must continue to speak out for Palestinian lives and rights. It is not hopeless as long as we care and we try each day for those who are suffering greatly. The sadness we face is but a drop of what these people live. They are the embodiment of anguish and pain. Turn your sorrow into action. Do something each day for Palestine.
