Fossil fuel use, deforestation, rampant chemical dispersal, habitat loss, development sprawl, and over-consumption are all some of the major contributing factors for climate change which is drastically increasing global temperatures. As a result to rising temperatures, glaciers are melting, ecosystems are collapsing, and water is becoming scarce. Humans, wildlife, and insects are dying. This is the largest crisis and nothing is being done to stop the destruction of our beautiful planet.
We have failed this planet.
We have failed nature.
We are at fault for the destruction and do nothing as a world to unite to heal this planet.
Buy more, consume, destroy. This is what we are told by our elected leaders, not to conserve, reduce, and plant.
There was a post that I read on social media and it hurt to see a person attack an individual’s ability to make a difference in protecting and healing the environment. Every small action matters. There are some that might have lost hope and are attempting to drag others into their hopelessness to reassure them that their actions are correct, but fueling powerlessness does nothing more than harm the environment. If you care at all about this planet and the longevity of humanity and nature, spreading the message of despair is what all of the companies, governments, and individuals that profit from nature’s destruction want us to do so we can add to the profits of polluters since it does not matter. But it does matter.
If you are out camping and you are the one campsite that cleans up and leaves no trace, it matters. Whether it be from other campers witnessing your actions, or being the 1 out of 30 campsites that did not leave waste behind, it does matter.
If you are the person that refuses to fly because you do not want to air pollution and emissions, it does matter.
If you are the person who went vegan or vegetarian because you care about animals and the carbon produced and land destroyed due to farm animals.
These actions add up.
Can these actions offset fossil fuel use and the impacts of wars or deforestation? It does if we all are taking steps together to protect our planet.
We all need to be making sacrifices for the longevity of our planet. Put down the plastic. Put down the herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, and pesticides. Put down the gas pump. Put down the plane tickets. Pick up your shovel. Pick up those who have lost hope. Pick up nature in your neighborhood and make a positive impact.
Let’s stop buying and start planting native plants. Let’s stop pushing a society built on things and build a society around nature.
Your actions do matter here. All of our actions matter together.
Support leaders who want to protect the environment and actually make good on those promises.
