There’s a lot to break down between the debate and all of the rulings from the Supreme Court. The debates and the rulings benefit the fascists in the US and their ever-increasing need for power.
Biden and Trump are the candidates the two-party system has selected for Americans, but they are unfit for the position of president, yet neither party cares that voters are not accepting either candidate especially after the debate. The debate highlighted the cognitive decline in Biden and Trump. Both parties want to use the men running for office as simple figureheads while the party and moneyed interests steer the ship.
While the presidency crumbles into absolute shambles, the Supreme Court has given itself new powers in one ruling, allowed politicians to accept bribes in another ruling, cleared insurrectionists from obstruction charges in another ruling, and outlawed homelessness so that prisoners can provide more free labor in another ruling.
Fascism is ramping up because Americans and the world have caught onto elected officials and capitalists ways, and they fear opposition and loss of power. The decline of resources and the fight for these resources is also a contributor to the increase in fascism. In the end, it is all about control and perceived control. The fascists are losing their false narrative the present because some have caught onto their manipulative tactics and their need to oppress which drives their actions.
Let’s get started…
How sad was the US presidential debate? It induced despair in many. For some liberals, this was the breaking point. Maybe that debate was a good thing, like the bucket of cold water that needed to wake up the hard-line Democrats. Biden couldn’t even speak. I’ve said this before in previous posts, he needs to retire into a cell in The Hague. Trump is no better. He should also retire into a cell in federal prison. Neither candidates have the wherewithal or energy to handle the rigor for the job. Everyone agrees and sees the issues with Trump and Biden. It’s amazing there is a consensus among the public.
Here’s the huge issue: the parties don’t care that Americans want different candidates. There are better options for both parties. As an Independent, I’m not a supporter of either party, but it is wrong to put up a candidate that cannot handle the position, puts that person and the country in jeopardy if elected, and refuses to listen to concerns of voters when there are other possible nominees better suited for president.
Why do the parties not care? Why would they put up a candidate that cannot speak coherently? That is why. These men do not know what they are doing and their party, along with moneyed interests, can direct the course for the country. These are both conservative parties, with the Republicans being the extreme conservatives and those the most extreme conservatives are in Trump’s ear directing him. Biden has the conservatives/liberals in his ear, along with moneyed interests that often overlap with Trump’s donors.
There is no concern for voters. Our voices don’t matter in the current system. What does matter is money and the ability to gain and retain power. Without those, your voice is silenced in the US.
You do not have to give up your vote. Vote third party. For me, I will be voting for Dr. Jill Stein. There are options for us. This is one way to break the hold of the two-party system.
As for the Supreme Court, there have been serious issues with the court over for the last few years as reports of the justices receiving large amounts of bribes which never was fully resolved other than justices promising to report “gifts”, which was a performative stunt to give the appearance that the court was being held to a standard when in actuality this was giving the green light for justice’s to accept bribes. Then the court began stripping away our rights one by one when no US elected officials checked their overt refusal to honor a code of ethics which is necessary for the court to instill legitimacy in their rulings.
Today, the Supreme Court gave the court new powers. Imagine expanding your own powers and no one stopping you? This is another historically significant moment that proves the intent of the court is to exert its power and authority and refuse to be questioned, or permitting oversight. In the case of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, the court overruled Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which gave agencies the authority to understand and implement the laws that Congress passes. Now, it is up the court to determine how to best enforce laws and not agencies like the EPA who are experts in their field. This fully is aligned with the overturning of Roe because the court thinks the government should be in charge of pregnant people’s bodies and not the person. Why would the court that ruled in that dehumanizing manner removing a person’s rights and giving complete power to the state, not carry on the same logic that they should be the final say on how laws should be carried out? In other words, the power rests with the government and not the people. The agencies that protect us and the laws that protect us are being removed.
Don’t go thinking that US elected officials will respond in any manner to check the Supreme Court. If they do, it is only for show. Why? Because the Supreme Court also ruled today that elected officials can accept bribes. In a way, the Supreme Court is buying Congress with this ruling. It’s also a nod and thank you to Congress for not holding the court to any ethical standard, other than a promise to share the “gifts” they receive from wealthy individuals who happen to donate to the party they are aligned with. The High Court Gift Ban Act has been proposed in the House, but it will not pass because the court just gave elected officials the ruling allowing them to accept bribes. The timing of this bill is a little suspect. Why was this bill not passed years ago when the news came to light that justice’s were accepting absurdly extravagant gifts from influential billionaires? Why now when the Democrats know it will not pass especially with the ruling from the court about legislators being allowed to accept bribes? The Democrats had an inkling of which way the ruling would go.
The fascism is not done yet, though! There is more!
Keeping the trend of eliminating rights and supporting the conservative agenda, the Supreme Court ruled that homelessness is illegal, and that insurrectionists that tried to block the certification of President Biden’s win is completely legal. Police can now arrest the homeless and prisons will use their labor to profit, as they do now, but on a much larger scale. While not having enough money for shelter is a crime, if you try to overthrow the US government and you are an extreme conservative, you can get away with it if prosecutor charged you with obstruction because the court does not see that insurrectionists were trying to disturb the certification of Biden’s presidency in any way.
Things will get much worse. Now that they have the taste for fascism, they are addicted to the power and the fact that they are unchecked.
The Supreme Court will seek more power.
Congress will seek more power.
The president will seek more power.
As a result, we will lose rights.
The only way to do this is for everyone to unite in a strike across the US. We are going to have to strike until we are heard and changes are made. The power needs to go back to the people.
We need an actual democracy because the US is not one and the facade is falling and the fascism is showing. We should be voting on the bills that congress votes on. Elected officials can be the project managers of the bills that we pass. This is going to require more voting, but after the loss of rights, American will want to protect and retain their rights and be motivated to vote. Under this system, your vote and voice is heard and equal to everyone else’s.
May the whole world be free.
