Israel has big plans for expansion of Israeli settlements and for their complete control of Gaza, both of military and civilian control of the strip. In the last week, there has been a major push from the US news media of a growing rift between Biden and Netanyahu. It’s very much like the, “We are concerned,” comments from US officials over the rising death toll of innocent Palestinians.
If this were to be true, then the US government must:
Cease all arms transfers to Israel immediately.
Withhold all military funding to Israel.
Remove all US weapons out of Israel.
No longer provide Israel the intelligence gathered from satellites or US spy planes.
Call for an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The US government is not taking any of these actions, therefore, it is all performative. They are pushing this propaganda only for votes. This is but the song and dance of the Democratic Party led by Biden. He said there are “no red lines” for Israel and now these stories are circulating that he and other Democrats are unhappy with Netanyahu’s leadership, but their actions speak to a different story, one of support for Netanyahu.
Israel has big plans to expand their settlements. They are going to construct 3,300 new homes on Palestinian land. The US responded with claims that they do not support the loss of Palestinian land and weak sanctions against individual settlers and two outposts, but not against those who are allowing these settlers to steal Palestinians land and arm these settlers. Sanctions work, but they have to address the root of the issue for them to work, and they are not going after the masterminds but the stooges. Again, this is just a performative measure so that the US can say they were tough on Israel when in actuality these sanctions are ineffective. This freezes the assets of the three settlers and the outposts (which is an illegal settlement and has no assets to freeze).
As much as the US wants to denounce Israel’s setter expansions and claim they are against plans for increasing settler communities, they have allowed 24,300 new housing units from 2022-2023 under Biden’s presidency without any criticism or sanctions from the US during that time. Where were the sanctions for these unlawful settlements?
The UN has outright called these settlements a war crime and the US has offered weak sanctions in response to the UN report on a handful of settlers and outposts that will not be impacted from these sanctions. It wasn’t until this recent UN report that the US then sanctioned more settlers, and these sanctions do not address the unlawful Israeli settlements constructed from 2022-2023.
What no one is discussing is Israel’s biggest plan which is to control the entire strip of Gaza. The US has stated at the beginning of the war that Israel would have military control of Gaza and Israel has expanded on that (as they like to do) and added civilian control as well. When reviewing the US sanctions and what Israel has mapped out for Gaza’s future, which they will completely dictate it all, the unevenness is plain to see. The hypocrisy of the US is plain to see.
Until US tax dollars are cut off to Israel and there are no further arms deals with Israel, then the US can prove that their words match their actions, but until we all see these changes, it is just a narrative that the US wants the world to believe because everyone has caught onto US’ song and dance routine and trust has been lost globally. Not that anyone had much trust in the US, it’s really about the depth of deception and how calculatingly evil the US government is in their support of over 31,000 innocent Palestinians being killed.
Don’t believe their words until their actions match. It is all just a performance otherwise, and a bad one at that.
From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
