Conservative or ultra-conservative are the two choices in the US. Some might be offended at the comparison but the Democrats and Republicans are not that dissimilar. The issue that it poses, though, are for voters who need representation but have no party that represents them at any level of the US governmental system. Another issue is that these two political parties are spiraling down the rabbit hole trying to outdo one another with their fascist policies, but what it is doing is endangering American’s rights.
Republicans are attempting to set up a Civil War in the US over border policies. The funny thing is that the Biden administration and most Democrats are not disagreeing with their harsh and inhumane ideas on how to address the surge of asylum seekers and immigrants that are asking for admittance into the US. The Democrats are all for the Republicans inhumane agenda. So what is the problem? The Republicans need a problem so they are making one because they must differentiate themselves from the Democrats but it is harder and harder to differentiate between the two parties because they both want to diminish rights. Biden was pushing for funding of the Israeli genocide and agreeing with the GOP on all of their restrictive policies and caps to shut down the border and to arrest illegal immigrants and migrants. Under the Biden administration, that policy is already in place, but it would be increased under the new funding bill. However, even though the bill had the harsh policies the GOP demanded, it supposedly did not go far enough with restrictions on the number of asylum seekers as well as shutting down the application process if the numbers at the border reached a certain amount. It appears that Biden would have given the Republicans anything they demanded so he could pass funding for Israel’s genocide, but the Republicans are saying it is just not enough.
Then there are the attacks against LGBTQ+ and abortion rights across the US that are pushed by the Republicans, but the Democrats are not combating these attacks, the people are. Voters and activists are the ones openly challenging proposed legislation in states that are attempting to limit the rights to healthcare for LGBTQ+ and women seeking abortion care. Today, protesters in Iowa voiced their dismay over a bill that would have eliminated protection under the Civil Rights Act and labeled transgender people as disabled. Voters swarmed the capital and made their voice heard, and the bill was not passed. Where were the Democrats to oppose this legislation? It was the people of Iowa to fight for their rights and they were heard, thankfully. The same situation occurred in Ohio over abortion rights. Voters fought for abortion access and protection which they had to do themselves, not with the assistance of Democratic elected officials because they have not taken actual action to protect people’s rights.
Muslim Americans and Arab Americans are being ignored completely by the Democrats. They have no representation in the US. No one is representing their needs or rights. It is clear the Democrats hold these voters with animosity. Two women were denied access to an event for Kamala Harris, a Democratic function, because they were wearing hijabs. Supporters of Palestine are looked at with contempt from the alleged liberal party and resolutions have been signed to attack the supporters of Palestine. When asked about Arab Americans, the White House only refers to Israel’s right to defend itself, nothing more than a defensive and circular argument and no support for voter’s needs and protections.
So why align with a party because you will still have to fight for your rights? The Democrats are ineffective frauds that actually support and agree with a conservative agenda. The Republicans openly attack rights and campaign for the loss of rights as a way for their supporters to feel protected, even though those voters do not realize that it is also their rights they are losing. Both parties simply want to exert control over their supporters, suppress, and oppress them. The more they can control, the more powerful the party becomes. It does not matter which party, both have that same intent. Neither fights for our rights or progress.
Now we are seeing the Democrats clearly as tensions become more and more heightened. Nancy Pelosi has been shouting racist statements to pro-Palestinian supporters that mimic the ultra-conservative Republicans. John Fetterman is attacking his constituents over their support of Palestine and claiming he was never a progressive despite campaigning as one. Fetterman once said he was similar to Bernie Sanders, but now those who agree with his agenda are the ultra-conservatives because he staunchly agrees with Israel and inhumane border policies of the Republicans. On the other side of the aisle, one MAGA supporter beheaded his father to challenge the alleged liberal takeover he had created in his paranoid mind.
The party system is failing, and, as a result, we are witnessing the fall out of the failure of both parties.
Republicans promote fear and scare their supporters into allegiance. What Republican elected officials don’t seem to realize is that even Republican voters are suffering under their policies, barely making ends meat. They are doing nothing to help the economy or making any progress for their constituents but to eliminate their rights, which does nothing for the economy.
Democrats pretend they are the savior, but have done nothing to defend their supporter’s rights. They wistfully lament at the loss of rights and hope and wish things could be different despite the fact that they are the one’s in a place of power.
Neither party cares for their supporters so why support them? Why not think for yourself and the ideals that you support? Why is the US entrenched in a two-party system that eliminates the voice of the people and actual representation?
We will all witness more unhinged behavior and policies from both parties as they lose power and control over the people. Be prepared for their policies to be harsher and even more restrictive. Be prepared for them to lash out at voters with hatred like they have, but on unheard levels.
We need drastic changes. We had the opportunity to eliminate the electoral collage but Biden dropped the ball on that and a chance for making a huge step for the people’s access to power was lost.
What can we do? Vote 3rd party. Vote them all out.
Elected officials from both parties are doing nothing to protect us. Elected officials are only attempting to oppress us and restrict our rights.
We have the power to change that. Vote them all out. Vote for change. Protest hard and make your voice heard.
From the river to the sea, may the whole world be free.
