Hi.

Thank you for visiting A World Betwixt Worlds. New content is added weekly.

The US has opened the door for leaders to commit greater evil

The US has given up the illusion that it champions human rights, though officials don’t want the world to necessarily view them as equivalent to Russia or China in terms of crimes against humanity, but the current actions the US has supported leave no question in anyone’s mind where the US stands in protecting human rights. The US is not upholding or respecting human rights or international law. If, they at one time did, during WWII, that country which helped end WWII to protect freedom across the world is long gone, and the nation that once ended a genocide is now a country that supports and funds genocide.

What the US has not thought of is that their participation and endorsement of the war crimes Israel is perpetrating against Palestinians opens the door for other nations to perpetrate their own atrocities and war crimes.

The US unmasked, and, now, other countries are comfortable unmasking. Israel refuses accountability and flouts international laws with the full support of the US, then these countries can also refuse accountability and flout international law.

If the US okays something, other countries will follow suit. Other nations use the actions of the US to legitimize their actions. It is never the rare, good actions of the US, it is always the worst actions that other countries will emulate. “If the US is okay with doing “X” then we can do “X” too, and worse.”

In their unconditional support of Israel, the US has opened the door to greater evil worldwide.

  • The UN cannot get aid into Gaza and there is no ceasefire agreement at the present. Millions of Palestinians could die.

  • The UN is pulling out of Sudan and this will impact thousands of Sudanese access to aid and protection. Millions of Sudanese could die.

  • The UAE is using Cop28 to broker oil deals instead of helping reduce fossil fuels.

  • Terror groups in Ethiopia have launched attacks and killed villagers.

What is worse is that world leaders are complicit in all of these crimes against humanity. They do have the power to not trade with the nations that support these crimes or commit them, but they do. If a nation wanted to take a stance for human rights then they could cut diplomatic ties, sanction, and embargo the nations that are committing war crimes and atrocities. But they do not. This is the grim reality of widespread performativism.

They learned it from the US, the epitome of two-faced nature, and these deceptive practices have also spread because of the influence the US has across the globe. The US feels like if they deliver platitudes to the citizens, but strip citizens of their rights and freedoms, Americans should continue to feel like they are being governed by a democracy that is moral and just. Other countries have picked up this two-faced game and are perpetuating the same stance as the US.

Over 15,000 Palestinians have died. The US urges Israel to minimize civilian casualties, but is doing nothing to protect innocent Palestinians and bring an end to this war. This is that two-faced nature, but even in the statement “minimize civilian casualties," the US is failing in holding up the pretense that the US supports human rights. A nation that upholds human rights and freedom would be taking actions against genocide and war crimes.

Stand up for humanity.
