World leaders are silent. Their silence and inaction has led the world down a road that we will never recover from. Israel and the US have backed Middle Eastern nations into a corner, and they will respond with the only means that both countries will listen to, which is violence and war. What is sickening is that the US and Israel want these countries to enter the fight because they want to annex their land, that is the entire point of this war. Israel will annex Gaza and both the US and Israel hope to gain more land than just Gaza. An Israeli commander has stated that they will also take Lebanon.
The US used the same justification that Israel is using- we are rooting out the terrorists who attacked us. No country stood against the US during the Iraq war to rebuke the actions of the US invading a country on no grounds, just with the justification of hunting in vengeance. Because no world leaders or nations decried these atrocities of the Iraq war, Israel knows that using the same justification as the US did in Iraq, that the world leaders will not respond.
Again, not one country has called out the US and their role in Israel and Palestine. Only a small handful of countries have pulled their diplomats and cut ties with Israel. The same must be done to the US. Sanctions must be placed on both countries, or, more effectively, a complete trade embargo on both the US and Israel.
The world leaders will remain silent. They fear the US too much. The economic power the US wields over the world is a stranglehold.
As time passes, the horrific intensification of the massacre of innocent Palestinians worsens. Bombing ambulances, refugee camps, water tanks, bakeries, mosques, churches, schools, humanitarian organizations, hospitals, and people traveling to the border to escape are horrors besieged on the Palestinians hourly. Food, water, and medicine are almost completely gone. There is no anesthesia in Gaza. Women have few places to give birth, but no anesthesia. The crimes are worsening and will continue to devolve.
At some point a nation, or possibly more, will fight against the Israeli military. The Israeli government using the same justification as the US in Iraq, flaunts their crimes proudly in front of the world knowing full well that no nation is brave enough to actually stand for humanity. If any middle eastern nation wants the war on Gaza to end, the only way is to enter the war themselves at the absolute greatest risk for this nation because Israel and the US want their land. The nations that do fight against Israel will be labeled as terrorist supporters and not fighters for human rights and for the innocent people of Palestine. Warships that the US has sent are poised to attack and are meant to threaten middle eastern nations into silence knowing that if they fight Israel, the US will also attack them and they will lose land.
It is either greater war in the Middle East or silence from leaders as the entire world witnesses a genocide of innocent Palestinians.
Continue to protest. Continue to reach out to elected officials. This will not change elected leader’s minds, this war has gone on for thirty days with crimes worsening each day. These elected officials are beyond repair. The aid package to Israel and the resolution against pro-Palestinian protests is enough evidence of where the US legislature stands. Protest and contact elected officials to hold them accountable for humanity at this point. Appeal to what is left of their conscience, which is more than likely foregone, but our elected officials should be told what they are doing is evil and that they are complicit in committing war crimes and genocide. The electorate will not forget and we will hold them accountable. Let elected officials know that the people are going to change the system, and their power right now is fleeting.
We must fight to shift the power back to the people. Our leaders have failed us, it is time to address it or lose humanity completely.
