The Power is in OUR Hands

“This is a catastrophic failing that the world must not tolerate.” ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric

Our leaders have failed us and we must take the next steps. We must let go of these elected officials because nothing that any person can say will reach the ears of their twisted moral delusion. There is no logic in a person who attempts to legitimize genocide, and there is no humanity. These elected officials should hear from their constituents so they know how and why they have failed.

This is a painful time but it is not the time to be overwhelmed or close our eyes and plug our ears. Acknowledge your pain and work through it, but turn your pain into positive actions. If you’re fearful, turn your fear around. Know that these politicians would not be in power without your vote, you do have the power and nothing to fear from. Your one voice matters tremendously. Your actions matter even more. This is how we break this never ending cycle, not succumbing to our pain and fear. Be brave and bold. The times call for our action.

As the president of the ICRC said, we must not tolerate this failing. Protest, write propositions aimed at reform and human rights, do not fund elected officials who have supported genocide, vote out those who have supported genocide, boycott the companies and institutions who have attacked Palestinian support, share the stories from Palestine, share the history of Palestine, run for office, donate to humanitarian organizations, share humanitarian laws, and VOLUNTEER. Help in whatever way you can.

Thank you to the protesters around the world. This is brave and your message is being heard. Please protest if you are able to. It is a special, meaningful unity in shared humanity when thousands upon thousands shout for ceasefire and peace for Gaza. Thank you to the Jewish community for protesting against genocide and war crimes that Israel is committing. That is the definition of empathy and compassion.

Seeing the love between Muslim and Jewish communities at these protests, and in dialogues, at such a time, it takes my breath away. It is such love that is shared through compassion that is unbreakable.

The power is with us. It always has been. We must unite to fight and stop the catastrophic failings and protect human rights.

7,700 Palestinians have been killed. Don’t stay silent, take action for them.
