China has spoken up and warned Israel to end the violence against Palestinians. “Israel’s actions have gone beyond self-defense and it should heed the call of the international community and the Secretary-General of the United Nations to stop its collective punishment of the people in Gaza,” Wang Yi China’s Foreign Minister stated. This is the first major world power to decry the actions of Israel in their brutal response to the Hamas attacks.
The president of Colombia outright declared the actions of Israel genocidal and is willing to cut off all relations with Israel. Gustavo Petro has shared the story of his countries past with Israel and the genocide that Colombia suffered at their hands years ago. He is the only world leader to openly discuss the horrors that are occurring right now and asking for an end to the siege on Gaza.
The Spanish minister of social rights, Ione Belarra, has taken the monumental step and has called for war crimes to be brought to the International Criminal Court by the Spanish government against Netanyahu. While Israel is not a member of the ICC, the war crimes carried out by both Israel and Hamas fall under the court’s jurisdiction. I urge the Spanish government to bring this case to the ICC immediately. The more voices that support the Spanish government, the more likely this case can come to fruition and end the violence in Gaza.
A small group in the House of Representatives has created a resolution called #CeasefireNOW which calls for the immediate ceasefire and deescalation in Palestine and Israel. Please do your part and contact your Representative today and urge them to sign #CeasefireNOW.
War crimes are mounting by the minute. The loss of hospitals whether it be from bombardment or attack are limiting any possible medical care for all the Palestinians in Gaza, which would then break another act of the UN Genocide Convention. WHO is asking for immediate and unobstructed humanitarian access to Gaza. The UN has repeatedly demanded for all parties to follow the rules of war under the UN Geneva Convention. Water is scarce or dirty, there is little food, no electricity and the suffering worsens. The actions from China, Colombia, Spain, and brave members of Congress has shown the world that not everyone will remain silent in the worst of times. Keep hope alive! Let the Spanish officials know you support their government bringing war crimes charges to the ICC against Israel. Ask your member of Congress to sign #CeasefireNow. Thank you to these world leaders and members of Congress for showing the world that having humanity means something.
