When Hamas agrees to a hostage exchange and truce, Israel turns down peace for genocide

While there could be a truce for several weeks and an exchange of hostages, Israel has refused the Hamas truce because of Israel’s planned invasion of Rafah. Families of the Israeli hostages are livid over the loss of bringing their loved one’s home when Hamas readily agreed to the truce and exchange. With Israel openly declaring their intent on genocide of Palestinians, the world is watching as the genocide of innocent Palestinians occurs.

There is nowhere for Palestinians to go to. They are being told to evacuate Rafah where 1.5 million displaced Palestinians have been told to shelter at by the IDF. Tanks are entering Rafah and it appears like they are trying to take over the Rafah crossing into Egypt, which would cut off Palestinians trying to exit Gaza. There are reports that Israel is extremely close to the Egyptian border.

Israel is trying to blame Hamas with creating an entirely new deal and conditions, but it sounds like the deal that has been debated between the two parties for a few weeks now. What is frustrating is that Israel has stated in the past that they would do just what they are doing now, so why concoct this story that they are being presented with a new truce deal and then reject the deal so quickly if it is just presented to Israel? Maybe it is because there are many Israeli’s that are enraged over the treatment of the hostages when Hamas agreed to free the remaining hostages for a truce? The Israeli families want their loved one’s to come home and Israel has done nothing to ensure their safety or return. The Israeli government has never had the goal to bring hostages home, this has always been about annexing Gaza and killing all Palestinians.

Palestinians are trapped in Rafah. There is bombing occurring in central Gaza. How are they to move toward the coast as they are told safely? What will they find when they get to these towns they are being once again forced to relocate to? What about the Palestinians that are sick or disabled and cannot leave Rafah?

This is why students around the world are protesting and fighting for an end to this genocide and to protect human rights. They are being a force for change. As Rafah is invaded and more innocent Palestinians killed, we all need to empower ourselves to take action for Palestine and for human rights.

From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
