This war could have ended, but this is not the intent of Israel. The goal of Israel is to destroy Gaza and all of the Palestinians that exist there. This war is not about hostages. If Israel wanted to exchange hostages, Hamas was willing to do so, but Israel has a war it must pursue because the goal is not to retrieve hostages but to take Gaza and kill as many Palestinians as possible.
Netanyahu is only in power because of this war and the far-right extremists in his government want the genocide to continue. The people of Israel do not want this war. They do not support Netanyahu.
The US has advised Israel to direct their activities toward Hamas and avoid civilians, but over 100 innocent Palestinian civilians have died just today, including three reporters. Despite the pleas from American citizens who do not support continued death and violence in Gaza, the US government supports continued bombardments of Gaza.
In Israel and the US, the governments are not listening to their citizens calls for peace and a permanent ceasefire. All polls show the majority of voters want a permanent ceasefire. The voice of the people is being silenced for death and profit.
Israel is withholding aid into Gaza. The humanitarian deliveries are stopped and not allowed to enter Rafah. Again, how does Israel have control or say of what enters into Gaza? This entire system is set up to destroy Palestinians. Why are world leaders not making demands for the aid to enter?
The people with power to end this lament, offer brave words, but take no action. World leaders could and should embargo Israel. World leaders could and should embargo the US and all of the countries that support Israel’s war crimes and genocide. Yet they wistfully wish that more could be done, but it can be done through the actions of these leaders. The truth is that they do not want more to be done because they are focused on the profits and the money that the US offers. The only country I respect is Belgium who is brave enough to take actionable steps against genocide and forego their risks of profit.
Demand that your country calls for an embargo on Israel and the US.

Vote every elected official out of office and power that supports the Israeli regime of genocide. Vote every elected official out of office that has made attempts to silence constituents.

We exist in a dangerous time and it is made more dangerous because those in power do not want anyone to fight back or to even acknowledge this truth that freedoms and rights are quite literally in jeopardy. The House Resolution 888 which affirms Israel’s right to exist and silences any dissent, perfectly highlights this fact.

Right now there are few governments that can justly say they are listening to their electorate and representing them. If your government is not listening to calls for peace, and instead silencing your voice, then they should not be in power.

This is going to be arduous, but we cannot give up. Never give up.
